This was discussed recently because of the BOSE component shortage.

Start here and read into page 8:

It is very doable to upgrade using aftermarket equipment. From my research (for a different car), Audiotec Fischer is considered one of the better brands for car audio, and the poster in the above thread used their equipment in his Taycan.

Replacing the amp and not the speakers will likely give significantly better results, also easier and cheaper to install.

That site calls out 3way's in the rear doors. I don't think that is the case with the base system. I believe the 10 speaker base system is:

Corners dash = 2 tweeters
Front doors upper have mid and lower door woofer = 4 speakers
Rear doors upper have tweeter and lower woofer or mid = 4 speakers
Thanks, I am guessing the base system retains the same 8 inch woofers in the doors. Can anyone please confirm?

Does anyone have a good shop on the US, Bay area for aftermarket installs that have worked on a taycan?

So I have done a lot of personal work to upgrade my base to what I'll call Bose+. @blame.latitude I can confirm the base stereo has 8" woofer in front and 6.5" in rear doors. Rennspec does a nice job making pigtails to adapt base plugs to Bose or Burmester. Porsche did a lot to hamper DIY upgrades by making the plugs option specific. Base speakers plugs are different from Bose which are different from Burmester. Base also lacks a subwoofer at all so I'm not expecting to find wiring to the spot where the sub would have otherwise lived so I'm still troubleshooting this. Maybe someone who has upgraded base to something else can chime in. What's really not helpful are all the voices who have chimed in with completely uninformed opinions about what should be there or they REALLY don't think is the case but don't actually know. :-(

I pulled the door cards off both front and rear doors and can confirm what you have here for fronts but the rear doors are a bit more interesting. I have a CT and the rear doors have a 6.5" woofer, the 3.5" mid and a tweeter.
I have the base stereo but I also have the motor sound option which seems to have upgraded the speakers in those doors. The 3.5" mid is not a paper cone and is part number 9j1.035.413 which the parts sites say is a Bose. But the Bose mids for Taycan are paper cones and the aforementioned speaker has some kind of composite cone. It also has a capped tweeter bringing the total number of speakers to 3 in the rear doors. Rennspec said the Bose amp also handles crossover responsibilities so...
