Hey all, I've been trying to pick an 80A EVSE and the choices have been very limited.

To my knowledge, there are only a few options on the market:

ModelPriceCable LengthNotes
ClipperCreek CS-100$220022'Irredeemably ugly, but reliable
PWCC$160015'Short cable, bulky, questionable compatibility with other EVs
Juicebox 80A$160025'Questionable quality?
Wattzilla Uno$210025'
Blink IQ 200$350025'Super expensive
Ford charge station$130025'Says Ford on it

Anyone with experiences with the options listed here? Seems like the PWCC is generally well-received here compared to the PMCC, but there's not too much info on the other options. Leaning Juicebox or PWCC here, but might settle for the HCS-80 instead of the CS-100 if I went Clippercreek. The ugly really is too much.

Find a gen 2 tesla wall adapter and get a Tesla tap adapter for the Taycan. Looks great. Super reliable and easy to manage
Interesting! They are pretty cheap and I already have a TeslaTap. Unfortunately it’s pretty hard to find a new Gen 2 charger. Wonder how they are able to sell these so cheap.

Why do you need 80A anyway? I don’t think any car can accept more than 40a at home. (50a breaker.). When I was building my house a couple years back I had a new gen 2 charger that I got as a referral gift from Tesla. So I spec’d a 100a breaker with our electrical sub

Fast forward Before we moved in Last year I sold the charger on eBay and bought two new gen 3 chargers and converted my 100a breaker into 2 50A circuits so I have 2 40A chargers now. One for my Taycan Turbo S and an extra for any other future EV or my spare model 3 performance that is collecting dust.

I specced the 19.2kW charger, figure I should at least have the option of using it even if I charge at work the majority of the time. :)

Cars with the 19.2kW on-board AC charger can charge at up to….19.2kW. Or 80A @ 240VAC.

2nd Tesla wall connector. I think I have a v2 that have dip switches to go up to 100Amps.

correct - also the Gen2 have "load sharing" so that up to 4 Gen2 Tesla Wall Chargers can "share" a single circuit (for any size breaker).

PWCC or ClipperCreek (or a high qualityed Used Gen2 Tesla Wall Charger) are the best candidates on that list - of those choices the ClipperCreek is the only one that is simple enough to be bullet-proof and fuss-free.

Being ugly is a pretty big downside though...

If it always works, if it can handle anything thrown at it, if it works so well it doesn't require a display to tell you it is working as it always will be, if its so reliable it lacks the needs for gimmicks ...

Then I think the utilitarian look can have its own confidence, its own beauty.

Don't forget about after-sales customer support when choosing your EVSE.

When I was turning on my 40 amp Pulsar Wallbox for the first time, I called their tech support for questions about configuration and firmware updates. Got quick, informed help from Wallbox customer reps. Both contacted me couple days later as follow-up to check to see issues were resolved.

My contacts with Porsche NA customer service about Porsche apps have been complete waste of my time. Reps forward questions to 2nd-level support/Germany, tell me I have to wait until they get a response, and depend on me to make follow-up calls for status. If you buy Porsche EVSE, you better hope you won't need help from Porsche.
