The update is that State Farm will not cover the rotor. I’ve contacted an attorney and will construct a letter outlining their ‘bad faith’ behavior. It’s taken me three weeks to get an adjuster to look at the car, and he went to the dealer and claimed he spoke to the technician. The reason given is the rotors have a 50K mile expected life, and this is normal wear and tear. My technician said this is bullshit, and the carbon ceramic rotors are designed to last the life of the car. He said the agent never spoke with him about this. I will be cancelling all our State Farm insurance and going with someone who has excellent customer service.

So all 4 should have failed if they had 50k life expectancy and you are beyond that, or at least show big signs of wear across the other 3 also.

And I am assuming that's not the case.

Such pathetic bad faith argument 😅 I guess to be expected from insurances...

Durability marketing claims that PCCB should last 160,000 miles longer than conventional discs.
I had a similar issue with delamination of one of my PSCB disc surfaces at 29,000. The other 7 were fine.

Latest update is that after 3 weeks of calls, emails texts and personal visits by me, the State Farm claims agent has denied my claim. He never spoke with me, and claimed to have spoken to the tech about the rotor life, which the tech denies. The agent stated that 'the useful life of the rotors is 50,000 miles, and your car has 52,000 miles, therefore this is normal wear and tear."

Carbon ceramic rotors are designed to last the life of the car, as stated by Porsche. State Farm is acting in bad faith, and the best I can do is my complaint to the BBB, which at least got a couple responses from SF. They simply stated '...we're looking at it...', and are hoping I don't respond within the 5 day limit - then the case will be closed. I've responded twice, and don't intend to let them off the hook here. It's not a huge amount - $10K, but for me it's the principal of them acting in bad faith. They've claimed they have been trying to contact me, and have left numerous messages, which is complete B.S. I've never recieved any kind of phone call or message from them.

Something has happened with State Farm. I've spoken with a number of other people who are experiencing the same denial of claims. State Farm is being sued by the US government for non-payment of claims relating to the fire damage in CA. They used to be great. Now they are not paying claims. I'd advise anyone who has State Farm to cancel and pickup another carrier if they want to be confident that valid claims will be paid.

Didn't know a State Farm adjuster was such an expert on emerging automotive technologies particularly on disc braking systems! Impressive, I'd like to see his Linkedin.
