Burmester sound system option

BOSE is terrible at least on the Taycan... no highs, no lows, must be BOSE.

Burmester is simply mile aheads.. Set Auro 3D to intensity 6 or 7. It will be super immersive.

Get poweramp equalizer and you can fix a lot of issues At least in Spotify...

Still yet to listen more to it to better understand what setting I prefer more(for now - treble 3, bass 4)

What did this involve ?
I have Bose and it is clearly a step down from the Bose system in my RS6 or the Harman Kardon in my Volvo S60.

All speakers, amp, subwoofer, speaker grills, a pillar trim, tons of new connectors(I wanted to keep original wires as much as possible and only replacing connectors) and adding new wires to rear shelf and subwoofer. I will do write up soon on whole process, but nothing too difficult, more just time consuming

Resurrecting this for another question: does the Burmester system have any sort of time alignment feature through the DSP that focuses the music on the general area of the drivers seat? I can't find a burmester Taycan anywhere locally to listen/fiddle with controls.

Yes, you can change the focus on "all" or the "driver" iirc.
I can take some photos tomorrow.

I believe it is the "Listening Position" value.

Anyone listen to the 2026’s introduction of Dolby ATMOS on both sound systems and could give any evaluation(s) as to if/how much better it makes either the Bose or the Burmester compared to pre-2026 without DA?

Shiny front panels are a Burmester trademark if you look at their HiFi kit.

The lower speaker in the front doors is an 8” bass unit with all Taycan audio including the standard and at frequencies of longer wavelength than twice the gap from the loudspeaker driver to the storage bin won’t be affected much, so from around 1500Hz and up, so from an acoustics pov this isn’t a problem - though it may be a small one if you fill the door bin simply reducing the area.

After years of expensive disappointment I realised the laws of acoustics guaranteed limited sound quality in a car so don’t stress over it any more.

Digital signal processing can mask a lot of the problems nowadays but there is no actual solution to the fundamental problem that the position of both the listener and the speaker drivers is inevitably always wrong for good sound.

It is polishing the turd, though DSP turd polish has come quite a long way in recent years..

I have a Volvo EX30 turdbox and the sound system is pretty impressive for a low end system. All of the front drivers are placed in a soundbar at the base of the windshield. This was done to simplify the interior and I feel it works on all fronts.

I don't know what it's used for.

For music it uses Auro3D as before.

There is a "Dolby Experience" app in the play store - I guess you could watch a movie with surround sound on the tiny screen? A gimmick if anything.

I know ATMOS makes my bedroom Samsung QN900C/Q990C sound better than my office Apollon Purifi 1ET400A/Klipsh Cornwall IV/Chord Qutest and M-Scaler system.
In the confines of a car interior I would expect a smaller improvement.

The issue is it is not using that for music, but Auro 3D at least in case of Burmester.

Spotify doesn't have dolby, so playing from there is pointless. And apple is using it only for "spatial audio enabled devices", which the taycan isn't.

Music is 2 channel, there is very limited amount recorded in anything else because it makes zero sense.

Atmos is used for movies it is a digital position encoding technology. In home theater settings it often also refers to ceiling or upwards firing speakers.

In the context of the Taycan it only makes sense for movie soundtracks and the ability to play back positionally encoded audio. Not for music.

According to Porsche on 26 March 2025 below —but is this just “marketing” or does DOLBY Atmos increase listening quality? Hope that someone here has experienced the two in a Taycan and can share with us the answer to that question.

We all wish that both Bose and Burmester has improved in 2026+ Taycans.
