CAN SMALL ANIMALS ACCESS TAYCAN WIRING?

Hi All, it looks like a rabbit got into our garage and got into one of our cars and chewed the wires causing 'malfunctions' in the car. Unfortunately, my Taycan is in the same garage and I am wondering if a rabbit can somehow get into the wiring of the Taycan and cause big problems as well????

Last we saw, it crawled under the Taycan and then disappeared around the back wheels. Couldn't find it or hear it. Tried to use the hose in the wheel wells and visible suspension, but nothing moved. Now have some lettuce as bait to make sure it's still in the garage while waiting for a Rabbit trap.

I know it sounds a little humorous, but it ain't

Just want to know if I should be concerned with a rabbit within the underbelly of the Taycan? Or park it outside hoping it eventually comes out and runs away, although not being able to witness it.

I am afraid that is totally possible. Recent post, from a few days ago, have to look for it had an animal with trash and leaves right on top of the battery. I am not sure about rabbits chewing through wires.

I have come to learn that in the animal kingdom, anything is possible.

Rabbits are pretty finicky, but since their teeth continuously grow they tend to gnaw on anything. Soy based insulation would be a welcome treat.

I had a red squirrel get into my Taycan in the garage and chew through the wiring for one of the front headlights. And left a stash of nuts behind. I now always keep the garage doors closed and and bird food in a sealed plastic box.

I remember when our 2019 e-tron was about 5 months old I opened up the trunk one morning for some random reason and found this, photo attached. Looks like a bunch of scavenged insulation material makes a pretty good nest...

After cleaning that up (and ejecting the critters) I put a packet of Fresh Cab rodent repellant in there, and haven't had problems since. I did the same when I got my Taycan.

Is the rabbit ASE Certified? If so, probably okay. If not, I would ask it to stop whatever it’s working on. You’ll just have to get the work redone.

We live on the edge of the desert and pack rats have a dietary attraction to the plastic sheathing around Porsche electrical wiring. We’ve had two Cayennes that provided $3,000+ meals. Our local dealer said it was due to the sheathing having a soy component. Now all cars are garaged.

roger-on-taycan, good call on the Fresh Cab that I just ordered. Where did you put the pouches in your car?

On the Taycan, under the hood, underneath the snap-in plastic cover that provides access to the 12V battery terminals. Off-center on the driver's side, pretty close to the windshield, there's an approximately 8" square area that seems pretty safe and self-contained. Last time I checked it was still there.

Found a half eaten chestnut in that location.
When I park outside, under the Taycan at each wheel I put a Kaloo pizza peel with three Tomcat traps and Provoke bait.
Haven't caught any field mice there yet, they seem to be more attracted to the ICE cars for some reason.

Not sure where I saw it (maybe here?) but there was some kind of mesh to park each wheel on, that animals don't like walking on.

Not really something we have much of an issue with in the UK afaik.

the taycan is a car, just like any other car, the only difference is it's means of propulsion, that said, like any other car it is vulnerable to attacks from critters that can cause severe damage to it's wiring and other systems.

UPDATE

Finally got the little critter out from under the rear of my Taycan by enticing it with lettuce in a trap. It took 2 tries but it finally walked in and the trap closed on it. Drove it down the street into the hills hoping it doesn't have Waze to find its way back to my house

Put some mint bags in the trunk and frunk, hoping to avoid this happening again!
