I'm having the 2023 Cayenne S with RWS/PDDS for a few months and the ride quality is worst than my Taycan. I wonder if its the same air suspension tunned differently or Taycan has a better suspension because it rides way smoother.
I have a Cayenne with RWS, no PDCC, on 21 inch summer setup and it rides perfectly smooth. If you are having some type of loaner then you have to check the tires as they always overinflate them and for sure your ride will not be smooth if you have summer tires, on 22 inch wheels, and driving in below rated summer temps. I drove a Cayenne Turbo GT on 22 inch summer setup in cold temps and that was as bad as it gets and certainly not what you do.

Speaking of corrected to Cayenne Turbo GT, The Rock was just stopped in one for overly tinted windows in LA. I do not love the wheels and strange that calipers look red, and he has those ugly orange side markers.

The Taycan isn't a jacked up car. Any SUV will ride worse than an equivalent Sedan, just the nature of it. There are certain things you have to do attempt to compensate for the higher centre of gravity and all of them translate into a worse ride.

It's less prevalent with an EV because of the skateboard design and having all the weight down low, but with ICE cars - they all ride like crap compared to a car that isn't jacked up. Either super bouncy or if the suspension is tightened down at least a little, then it's harsher, just how it is - no way to get around physics.

PAR does help a huge amount here though. The worse the car suspension geometry wise, the larger the effect from an active suspension.

I think you meant to say Cayenne.

I am looking forward to this discussion continuing when it is the Cayenne EV that is being compared to the Taycan.

The day Porsche makes a 7-seater EV is the day I can get my wife to swap her Mercedes EQB to a Porsche - I was going to get her the new Macan EV but she insists she needs a 7-seater.

There is always the roof rack, for any adventurous passengers with stuntman aspirations. ;)

Mine also has 21-inch wheels, and even after lowering the tire pressure, it’s still not as comfortable as the Taycan. Over speed bumps, the Cayenne doesn’t absorb the impact as well, and the body reacts more sharply.

On smooth roads it’s perfectly fine, but over rough surfaces the Cayenne definitely feels harsher.

Either super bouncy or if the suspension is tightened down at least a little, then it's harsher, just how it is - no way to get around physics.
It does feel more bouncy, and since mine has PDCC, I expected better ride quality.

That said, dynamically it’s still the best driving SUV I’ve experienced, nothing else I’ve tested comes close, RSQ8, GLE63, X6M. The Aston Martin DBX might be a contender, but I haven’t had the chance to drive it yet.

No argument there, but dynamically all the ICE SUV's are crap compared to a normal car :)
I haven't driven the Cayenne EV yet, but I expect that to behave a lot better.

I have an Ioniq 5 (among others) and that works quite well. Of course nowhere near the sophistication of any of the expensive cars, but you don't notice that it's a higher car, because all the weight is at the bottom. I expect the Cayenne EV to feel much the same.

Isn’t the EQB being recalled due to battery fire? This might be the chance to do it if MB can buy back the vehicle.

"The Smoking Tires" disagrees after testing the Macan - they prefer it over an M3, even saying "what's the argument for a sport sedan? ... I hate that I can't rebut that".
Also: "most people don't need the Cayenne over the Macan".

Now, being lower is always better for feelings and emotions. Now... if only Porsche were building a lower, sedan/Taycan height version of this... :( That would be my ideal car, something hitting all my family needs in a smaller envelope than the Taycan. Something in the middle between the 911 and the Taycan.

Macan is barely raised up though, it's not comparable to a Cayenne.
And whoever prefers it over an M3 was smoking crack when he wrote it ;)

At least in 2020, the RS4 and M3 are pretty much going to be dead now in 2026, as they weigh more than a Taycan.
