The way that I think it works in the UK is that orders can usually be placed with dealers at any time (even for new models that have yet to be officially announced)- on payment of a deposit- but until the dealer has been allocated a build slot that can be filled with the order, the contract with the customer isn't tied to a particular model year or price structure, they will align with that of the build slot when it is confirmed.
Sounds like you are giving a dealer an interest-free loan (in the form of a deposit)... No different than what those bastards do here in the US. Deposit does not equal allocation. My racing mentor got his GT4 allocation pulled, cause he chose to sell his GT3RS private and not via that dealer.

Offroad package - any benefits at all? Does the extra height help with the comfort of the ride?
The standard CT has 20mm higher ride anyway and therefore more suspension travel. Adding the Offroad package increases this to 30mm. Whether that is because parts of the package stick down 10mm I don't know but I don't like the look of it anyway so didn't spec it and the ride/ body control handling on my CT 4S is exceptionally well judged IMO, and Sport and Sport+ are there too.

I specced the 22kw. Never used it, though it did breakdown and had to be replaced all the same! Unless you’ve got 3-phase at home and can install a 22kw charger, I wouldnt bother with it. definitely get the 150kw dc thing (which I didn’t - poor advice). It’s good for the older fast chargers and also Tesla i think.

Thanks for the feedback - really appreciate it!

I do like the thought of having all the charging options but it's quite expensive. I'll check whether there is much in the way of 22kW charging in the UK. If it's not common, I'll delete it.

HUD. That's interesting. I'll definitely take a look at this. What info can you configure it to display?

Innodrive - yes, will drop this.

VLC sunroof. Well... perhaps the UK isn't the sunniest of all places! ? Anyone got anything positive to say about this option?

Offroad package - any benefits at all? Does the extra height help with the comfort of the ride?

Massage - this is for my wife. I don't care at all but she would really enjoy them.

Heated back seats - standard on UK cars.

RaceTex - do you think you need the B pillar covered? Watched a review where the materials used were complained about. There is also an option to use the same seat leather to cover them.
I have a MY24 CT4. When I ordered it last year, it was a MY23. They will update the model year once the allocation is confirmed. Bear in mind this also means that the price will be updated too (whatever price increases occur during your waiting time). The price for mine was fixed once I got the allocation..

Heated rear seats are not standard in the UK. You will have to spec them. My kids love them. One thing I have noticed is that they stay on even when no one is sitting there, so you need to check them.

I didn't go for the off road design package and I don't miss it. I think the car looks cleaner without it, but that is just a matter of opinion, and you may prefer this.

The ride on my 20" aero turbo s wheels is brilliant. I had a BMW X5 45e before and I would argue this is just as smooth.

I also like the extra ride height of the CT. I have a lot of sped bumps where I live, and some car parks with inclines, as well as my driveway being steep, means it has saved me a few times in my first 3 weeks of ownership...I particularly like the fact your car can memorise the location and automatically heighten the suspension when you go there again.

I have the standard sunroof which is fine, although not had a lot of sun to let in of late...

I didn't spec the 22kw charger, but this might be useful if you are doing a lot of on road charging. I charge mostly at home, so not an issue for me, but yesterday I went shopping and parked at a charger which was 22kw, and mine only charged at 11kw. It was only a short stay, so not an issue, but I would suggest researching the chargers you have on your regular routes.

I don't have HUD or Innodrive so cannot comment.

Whatever you choose, I think you will enjoy the comfort and overall usefulness of the car. I am 3 weeks in and still love every minute of driving it.

Enjoy.

I will speak up for Innodrive which has had rather a bashing on this particular thread. It does give you one important thing, especially useful for UK roads. It will preemptively decellerate as you approach a speed limit change, so you are going at the correct speed at the moment you pass the sign. There are certain notorious places in the UK Including the M25 and M5, where there are speed cameras, exactly at the moment of a speed limit change. Without Innodrive, you will hit those cameras at 70 mph instead of 50/40/whatever. (Whether they will fine you or not is an another topic, but I prefer to drive legally where possible.)

Innodrive also, in principle, slows when it predicts sharp bends. I tend not to use it on roads like that anyway, so I agree it is not particularly essential. I do use ALK/Innodrive almost all the time on motorways - and especially in France where there are so many miles of empty autoroute cruising (with speed cameras). ALK/Innodrive gives me an extra pair of eyes for my safety (albeit not as cautious as Tesla Autopilot which looks for a far wider range of safety threats).

As others have said on this thread, Innodrive can be added as a trial option after purchase. However, I have heard that the post–purchase option is not fully featured because some hardware is needed. I have not been able to uncover the details on this.

On the 22kW charger: frankly, it is a disgrace that Porsche do not include this free of charge in Europe. Whether you need to spend the money on it depends on what sort of road trips you will do. We use our Sport Turismo for European road trips (for which it is excellent) as it is very common to encounter three phase power at hotels, car, parks, and street chargers. You will see the same in the UK from time to time, but not everywhere.

Note that you also need a 3-phase Type 2 cable to pull 22kW in UK/Europe. Porsche supplied a single phase cable with my (used) Taycan and I had to push them a bit.

You also need to spend money on the 400V/150kW option if you intend to use the Tesla charging network. Again Porsche, screws you for something which they really should include.

i tried HUD which I love as a concept, but on the Taycan, I found it unnecessary because there is already such a huge complication of screens and data in front of you

FWIW the most popular option on ours is probably the massage seats, they get plenty of use. I also like the ventilation since I hate hot seats, or being hot at all…

That is one of the several reasons why I didn’t choose a glass roof.
It may be it is a good enough radiation barrier compared to others I’ve hated but the double bubble ally roof looks a lot better to me as well.
I do think it is mainly a gain for back seat passengers.

Configuration looks great @UKPerson . For my taste I would add HUD, Night Vision Assistant, and lose the Off Road plastics package (which actually lowers you maximum clearance by 10mm due to the plastics sticking down and actual max suspension height being identical with or without it). I got Innodrive but never use it, LCA + ACC would be what I would order if ordering again.

I have owned a 2020 turbo and now own a 2023 GTS sport turismo . If I were ordering a car - full leather is a must as I don’t like the race Tex trim or partial leather. I don’t think OLEO leather is any better than the regular leather - it’s really only an option if you want the leather color that only comes in Oleo leather. If you’re talking about alacantra on the pillars and roof it looks very nice but is definitely not a must have: lucky for me it’s standard on the GTS and the Turbo in the US. Adaptive cruise is a great option and allows you to add further functionality (ie innodrive) by subscription. I had innodrive on the turbo and only have adaptive cruise on the GTS and don’t miss innodrive at all. Heads up display is great and it’s a must have for me. Wheel options are important and you need to look at them with the type of trim you have and the color of the car. Mission E wheels are awesome on white or silver cars but not so much on dark blue or black vehicles. Some of the Aero wheels don’t look good in my opinion- especially the standard 19 inch wheels. Air suspension and performance battery are standard I believe but if they are an option in the UK then they are a must have.
The optional charging upgrades are dependent on geography and personal use - the 150/400v charger is a must in the US for most people as it will be important for The NACS chargers. The 22kw AC option is a waste of money for most in the US because these chargers are almost non existent in the US but I have heard they are more common in Europe. The AC upgrade is also expensive unless you really believe you’ll need it.
some other options are also very much personal choice. Sports exhaust sound - some love it - many hate it or never use it. Passenger and rear seat displays - you won’t miss them if you don’t have them. Also the passenger display only works if you have a passenger in the seat. Noise insulated glass is great in my opinion and standard on the turbo and part of a desirable premium package on the GTS but I would get it if it were not standard. Bose radio option is a nice upgrade - the bermesister system is only worth it if your an audiophile. I had RWS on the Turbo and it is a nice to have but I can say I don’t miss it on the GTS. The Sport chrono is a must if it’s not standard. The other performance options and upgraded brakes are only needed if you’re going to track the car. Otherwise they’re a waste and you won’t even know you have them. Similar opinion on all the little customizations you can order like embossed Porsche crest or leather key holders etc. The Taycan is a very different car than the A8 but you will love it.

I feel really good that my CT has all the charging options. I didn't think it would make the difference, but having the freedom and ability to charge faster is worth it.
HUD - initially, I did not want it. But then I saw how to customize it, and now I rarely look at the dashboard. It's a very useful feature.
InnoDrive - my window sticker does not have it listed... but somehow, the build sheet does. I did not pay for it, but looks like I have it. I used it. It is worthless. PilotAssist2 in my Volvo is much better.
Variable Light Control on Sunroof - I don't see how it is worth anything. Also, what sun in UK you will need to block? (sorry, I had to :). In AZ, if you have money to burn, maybe.
Offroad package - I don't think it is worth putting on.
Massage seats - just not that good. The Porsche ones felt like the Volvo ones I have. You use 1st month or so, but then the novelty wears off.
Get heated back seats. I did not get that, and my daughters are already complaining because we have it in Volvo.

Lately, I have not been a fan of RaceTex (be it seats or trim) or anything but base leather interior. I care about durability. I don't want to see my seats wrinkling, creasing, etc.
In Arizona and wish I had a solid roof. Bought an aftermarket clip-in sun shade for under $100 and have never removed it. OEM glass in the Taycan is expensive, especially if laminated ($2,200 for windshield + installation and recalibration). Add VLC to the pano glass and it's anyone's guess what the price would be to replace (or how long to get the replacement glass).

I love the VLC, on chilly winter days it allows sun and warmth in and on hot summer days you can black it out. Or you can can go partial which provides a nice ambiance.

The offroad package was a must for me for various reasons but I was surprised at how good it looks and it provides a lot of protection to the fenders. I was side swiped in a parking lot and the front fender/cladding took the brunt of the impact, saving the paint and the frame. It cost $100 to replace the cladding.
The offroad package also provides a 'gravel' button that allows you to raise to the max height without going through the pcm. This is nice when approaching a bottom busting speed bump.

Someone on the forums here pointed that on that home screen you can have three screens and one of them has drive modes. I have nav in one, CarPlay in the middle one, and drive modes in right one. No need for GT wheel :)

Why did I just read your answer in a most posh Londoner accent...
Not sure.. But I’ve been in London a couple of times, and on one occasion even left Heathrow. (Yeah, transfer to Gatwick.)

That said, I really REALLY like base leather on Porsches. I hate the paint quality (just too soft) but their most basic leather just lasts. But something about having two kids and wanting your cars to no look beat up... I can't do RaceTex anything equivalent in other brands. Unless you go all black, even minor stains, dust, etc. is just too visible.
Just to clarify, mine’s base leather as well (I have a dog). I was just pointing out that the standard-spec plastic on the b-pillar is really a low point on an otherwise solid interior.

my 2 cents…
I wanted light but practical interior. So chalk beige (I guess thats the right name - darker from two beiges available, dirty beige?) and black was a choice. Rex Tec on the roof. But for final order I ask my wife to help with colours And she then we changed the final build.

She decided for me cancelling the RexTec - claiming it’s different black than black leather on dash. She pushed for standard black roof. My concern was a b pillar covered with plastic - Rex Tec was a solution only partially, lower part afair can be covered with leather together with doorstep. So I went for it., pricey option but it looks great imo. But … more luxury than sporty, but I highly recommend it.

I have purchased ACC and then bought Line Keep Assist (part of Innodrive package) only. As function on demand. buing LKA and Inno is more expensive then Innodrive package in my country, so I recommend to check the prices.

22kW charger in my case is very good option. I drive to my home town where are no DC chargers. I have never used 22kW from EVSE (mobile charger) but use it often for city charging where 22 kW

What I did not order and I miss is a 4 zone aircon. i think it can save some energy for switching off heating in the back of the car. Also inteligent range assistant - it moves max speed limit in Range mode from 140 to 150km/h. In my country max speed allowed on highways is 140, sometimes I have to switch to Normal for overtaking. It’s available as a subscription or FOD, I will turn it on for next long trips,

i ordered roof rails and next time I would avoid that. I think I can hear it, also it affects a range.
