anybody lost data connection this week - issue I have is my Porsche app not connecting to car - shows charger unplugged etc. plus no update car info for some two days - weather app states no data connection on PCM - phone is connected and charger is working -Octopus app also states charger not plugged in which points to an issue re car. could this be conn box problem ?

all PCM boxes ticked and showing active apart from above

any advice to sort out appreciated

This has been the case with my car since Dec 4, 2025. The car has lost its data connection to the Porsche servers, and therefore the My Porsche app shows outdated information.

It happened once before to me in Dec 2024, but a call to Porsche USA then escalated to a team in Germany and they were able to reactivate it.

More recently, Porsche USA told me to take the car in for service and they could address the issue. The service team at the dealership is stumped and again tossed the issue back to Germany. I am picking the car up today with some software recalls successful, but no Porsche connect functionality.

Since you have a J1, check the SOS LED light above the rear view mirror. If that light is red, there is troubleshooting steps you can follow (search on this forum). If it's green (like mine), then I believe the problem is on the server end, not in the car itself.

How strong is your cell connection to the car?

You could try the 12v battery disconnect to cold start all 12v systems of which PCM and comms unit are two.

Sometimes just waiting works too but...

Mine’s been out for a month or so, it’s booked in next week because all other usual troubleshooting hasn’t worked

@ron james there are a few threads about this, if you search on "LTE" you'll see suggestions. If your car has lost connectivity (the "LTE" symbol on the PCM is replaced by crossed out lines) for me activating privacy mode, locking the car for 30 mins before returning to deactivate it sprung LTE back to life.

A Conn Box hard reset might be worth a go.

You might not be able to start the car during the work so make sure you aren't in need of it over a 12hr period.

De-register from the car (log out) and log out of your App.
On a RHD car; LH footwell fuse box (remove the kick panel trim) and find the light brown fuse strip. Remove the purple fuse retainer and the Conn Box fuse is the last one in the row towards the front of the car. Remove the fuse. Lock the car and leave it overnight. The back-up battery will go flat and the Conn Box will switch off. Any issues caused by a hanging message/faulty process will hopefully resolve. Unlock the car; refit the fuse/retainer and cover and cycle the ignition - you'll get some warnings but they'll resolve with successive cycles. If the SOS light stays red take it for a drive to switch cell areas which seems to help and over the next hour or so the back-up battery will recharge also.

You might get Vodafone Tracking calls or a theft alert, but, stand those down and carry on.

This happened to me last night. I checked the app and it was refreshed to the time but it said the vehicle was not charging. I went to the garage and the car was in fact charging. Weird, but it cleared itself by this morning although I never got the “vehicle is fully charged” message on my phone.

Over the years various posters on the forum have reported success in restoring LTE datacomm in various ways:
--Pulling two fuses labeled as "control unit for wireless data transmission", or
--Pulling fuse labeled as "Instrument cluster" - described as "terminal 30 reset" by several Porsche techs, or
--Disconnecting 12v battery for 30-45 minutes.

Any thoughts on the effectiveness, pros/cons, of those methods compared with pulling fuse for communication box?

Edited: A related question:
Is "control unit for wireless data transmission" a different device than the OTA-FC (Over the Air Function Control)?

12v disconnect should be for a short time otherwise you run the risk of having to recalibrate window stops, TPMS etc. Manual recommended no more than 5 mins.

Mine’s booked in on Thursday to look at this. Annoyingly it’s working perfectly this week after a month with no data, so I don’t expect them to actually investigate. I’ll let you know if they come up with anything though

Mine was in the dealership all last week to have them do software recalls and diagnose the broken data connection to Porsche Connect. They completed the software recalls, but sent me back home with the data connection still broken and told me to work with Porsche USA customer support to resolve. Feels like no progress is being made towards a resolution.

Mine is in the dealer for a major leak issue (boot half full of water and a soaked wiring loom). I had a load of faults while driving (presumably related to this water) and I’d lost data connection since then. I’ve noticed that while it’s been in the dealer the Porsche app is updating really infequently:
Porsche Taycan Data Connection lost IMG_4264

maybe this is not the car but a wider issue?
