I always thought launch control use on EVs is limited to drag racing, and trying to impress passengers. The latter doesn't really need launch control, but ok, it adds a little bit extra. I don't plan to use it on a Taycan when it arrives, except maybe once some time before the warranty is over to make sure it works - same as on my Model S where I find it very much useless. At least on a Tesla launch control doesn't give additional power, mostly just controls the launch traction - power is always available on demand. If Tesla or Porsche offered me $5K to disable launch control, I'd take it on the spot. This is also the main reason why I ordered a Turbo rather than Turbo S, since the main difference in performance is launch control performance.

I do use it at the request of my daughter and son in the closed/safe areas, and I have no desire to launch it off at a stop light against other cars, it's just nonsense and unsafe.

for the extra power to overtake, you can simply switch to Sport or Sport Plus mode, even Normal mode provides it but with a little hesitation in accelerating.

It's just for fun.
It amazes me how many drive such a car and put the fun in the background.

I wonder if sport mode will “give” you just as much torque/HP as launch control …?

I eat lots of ice cream.

I will definitely try launch once to see what all the fuss is about but it will be difficult round here to find a suitable place to do so.
Best place for this would be a long slip road coming onto the motorway… i had this demoed by a dealer when i bought an Audi TT twin turbo 17 years ago on the M1

Yes, you can compare the 0-100 km/h with launch control and 100-160/200 km/h acceleration in sport/sport plus which is faster if I am not mistaken, it’s on the technical spec sheet l

I use it ALL the time. My youngest daughter begs me to use it. it's the most fun part of the Taycan, together with taking highway ramps at ridiculous speeds.....lol

I live near the M4 though I don’t use it often. I had thought of trying it once that way myself on the way back from picking it up, though I am very sceptical any slip road round here will be quiet enough to safely stop on

Do it in the middle of the night (probably the day you get it after waiting for too long - you won’t have slept anyway and can nip down to IONITY beaconsfield in no time!)

I was thinking the on ramp to the M4 at Swindon the day I get it but that is very busy.
I shan’t be going out just to try launch control. Either I’ll come across a situation where I can try it or I won’t bother at all :)
