I had hoped I had escaped it, but my 2020 4S Performance has bricked with the dreaded red "Electrical System Error" notice.

Tried the reboot over several days, other suggestions, etc., but to no avail. At 37,000 miles she was towed to the dealer today. At this dealer it will likely take several weeks to get a prognosis, so a solution TBD. I'll update as I get more information.

Ahead of that, I'd like to learn more about what model years and batteries have become toast. Please respond to the Poll.

Thanks, and I'm enjoying a glass of wine....

Agreed. OP please add that option to your poll.
Will do! Clearly the majority have had no issues, but some good souls have waited months to get theirs fixed. Hoped to find out if a specific year was having trouble for science. It also appears individual HV cells had to be replaced as a fix, an electronic relay between the 800V and 12V needing replacement, or the onboard HV charger was the "Dreaded Red" issue.

Nice job with the updates voting options. The results should be interesting.

It is always hard to do a poll like this since there can be so many alternatives and different causes for the red warning.
Turbo 2020
I have had the dreaded red warning twice now. Both times car taken away on a flatbed.

The first time it was reported back to have been a SW issue and no faults found and car returned. The car worked flawless for 35 000 km after that instance with several SW updates. So most likely just a gremlin.

2nd time is more serious though. At the moment the car is at a repair centre for a new HV Battery Control Unit plus a Few modules that have failed in the HV battery.

So battery trouble YES but not a full replacement at this stage. Let’s see once the car is repaired if further work is needed. Or if a new battery is required.

After the dealer sent the analysis to Porsche HQ in Germany, they need to replace the HV battery. I’ve voted in the 2020 category. I’m guessing this is going to be a long time with a loner, given the number of new and of undelivered Taycans needing the HV battery replaced…

Got mine back on Friday after HV battery replacement. Very impressed as it was only recovered to them on 9th Oct, and the first week was diagnostic & emails with Germany.

They are getting impressive, my HV replacement took 12 days, now with increased range.

How much has your range improved by? I'd expect mine to improve given the original had done 3 years & 45k miles. I think it might have improved slightly but nothing really noticeable from what I've seen so far.

3 years and 38,550 miles. I was getting up to 240 miles in summer, but with the new HV it’s regularly 275 at 100%. I can make it to our beach house now without a charge stop, which is terrific.

I need a second vote. My 2020 Taycan Turbo has 2 cells replaced 11/22. Fast forward 11 months and it is currently getting the entire HV battery replaced.
Poll has a new category for your unfortunate predicament. Hope they can switch it out quickly!

I am interested to know if replacing cells has *ever* resulted in a reliable pack long-term, or if every cell replacements has eventually led to a full pack replacement.
