Electrical System Fault + 12V?

Issues were 12v battery depleted and/or "switched off" and manual unlock difficult to open/frozen?

Once door was opened, what did tech have to do? Apply voltage to the 12volt battery to "reactivate it", and then give it a longer charge, or just reactivate it?
Did tech/dealer have any thoughts as to why battery got low?

He had to connect to the fusebox to unlock the bonnet then he connected to the jump start terminals.
I started the car then and drove to the dealer ½ an hour away.
No further info until I pick it up I suppose.

Just had a call from the garage to say they are unable to download some data, have a query with Germany but do I mind keeping the loan car until Monday.
The irony is thia weekend is the first since I bought the Porsche winter tyres and wheels when snow is forecast and I have a Taycan on summer tyres ?????

I wonder if the 12V battery can be charged at lower temperatures. If it doesn’t have heater it can’t charge below freezing.

It's a bit of a biatch. Mine was flat in early December (car had stood a long time). First time it had happened to me in 2 years of ownership.

I managed to pop the bonnet with the aid of a 12V motorcycle battery and alligators attached to the door strike + emergency pop out in the fuse panel in the driver's footwell.

Then used a NOCO to jump the 12V LiFePO battery back in to life. That was then enough to wake up the car properly, energise the contractor so that the traction battery to 12V charger could zoom into life once again.

I kept an external CTEK 12V Lithium charger on it for another 48 hours just in case.

It is interesting that Porsche maintains that the car can be left for 8 weeks using the big battery charging the 12 Volt without outside charging but we find that occasionally a problem exists after just nine or ten days.

Does preconditioning the car (remotely) cause the car to power up and charge the 12V battery for the 60 mins it runs (or less if we turn it off manually) ?

I've had this issue over xmas as well, it was left plugged in to wallbox but not charging as was on 39% and I was waiting for octopus greener days later in the week. I had driven about 3hrs/100 miles on the Saturday, but on Monday night I got a tracker alert, went out, 12v dead as a dodo. Ran through the rigmarole of getting it back up and running then charged the main battery for an hour hoping that would help. Left for another week and again, flat. This time I left the car door open and kept going to it every 20 mins or so to prompt/keep it turned on. I could see the 12v was charging between 13.6 and 14.6v on the display. I'm hoping this isn't a bigger issue as it looks like a 12v replacement is about £1k! Ordered a lifepo4 trickle charger, however, a week sat stationary shouldn't cause this even if it was -4 degrees should it? I've owned this car and treated it like this for a year so this is a new development.

Yes, several on this forum and elsewhere have had exactly this.

Looking at ICE Porsche forums it seems this is a "normal" issue with Porsches (and indeed Audi etc). Too bad the manufacturer hasn't addressed in design either by charging properly from the main battery, or by giving us an external socket for a trickle charger.

Unlikely to be a faulty battery as they last a long time by all accounts but really don’t seem to like the cold weather which seems to find any problems in the software that is meant to keep them charged by the main battery for at least eight sessions.

Rather annoying, and surprising this didn't happen to me before, maybe last winter was milder and as it was a new car I was in it more regularly?

I do hope so! Shouldn't really need to do this but it is what it is I guess!!

My current plan is to have a local garage fit a Magcode socket to the car so I can easily clip on the CTEK battery tender when parked. (We don't have a garage so the car needs to be closed and locked.)

Haven't worked out how to do this yet. One option would be on the grille at the front; another might be in the gap beyond the windscreen wipers. The latter looks easy to do (screw the plug into the plastic) but there isn't room for the socket cover so it would be exposed to rain.

Any suggestions would be most gratefully received.

Actually 15A on the regular sized connector. They are designed for trickle chargers so should be ok? And the CTek has a max output of 5A.

Just attach the fly lead and tuck it at the back of the bonnet.
