EQE AMG vs Porsche Taycan 4S: thoughts?!

I've been searching for the perfect car for the past few months, and unbelievably, I've just came across TODAY to an incredible deal on a 2021 Taycan 4S with only 150 miles and below my budget on the Porsche site. The offer seemed too good to be true, making me wonder if there was some sort of error. However, I didn't hesitate and took the leap almost immediately. Let's see if it happens!

So, it looks like I'll be soon a member of the Taycan family!

Well well, turns out this offer was too good to be true indeed. There was a typo on the mileage an the car actually got more 170x more kms (~25k). I've opted out of the deal and back to the drawing board.

I wonder why high mileage is a problem if price is great and you can get warranty until 160k km?

I'm interested to buy a full spec Taycan Turbo with 70k km (45k miles). Haven't seen it in real life yet but if its well maintained its a very good deal.

My 10 yo son (not a car person at all) just told me today he regrets not suggesting we get the EQS because it’s so much more comfortable and spacious than the Taycan (we just took delivery a few days ago). Also worth mentioning is that he said the EQS “doesn’t look bad” because it looks like his grandfathers car (which is a 2015 Corolla). I see zero resemblance but it certain speaks volumes about the EQS looks ?

Surely that's true. I think part of the problem IS my indecision. It was still a v. good deal if you ask me now.

Hi.

I was considering exactly these two vehicles. I had the E53 AMG Wagon and was extremely satisfied with that car but wanted to go from fossil-fuel to EV. My two choices was the taycan and the EQE. I have owned a couple of Porsches before. Boxster, 997 and 996 and I like the brand. However I thought Mercedes in overall as a brand was better in terms of bang-for-the-buck!

When me and the wife tried the Taycan the EQE was not available. We really liked the taycan and we waited for the EQE to be launched which at the time was only a couple a weeks away. We had seen the EQS and we were hoping that EQS was more of a “concept” car cause we didn’t like the styling. As you know, the EQE came out looking more or less a carbon copy of the EQS and not available as a wagon. The choice for us was obvious. We went for a Taycan 4s sportturismo. The wait was 9 months but it was worth it and we enjoy the car every day. We have had zero issues with it. I don’t understand Mercedes reasoning with the design of the car. It looks like a bar of soap! Sorry, but for me the decision was a no brainer.

All the EQ’s have cardboard interiors, they look very “vegan” and thin. Like when you clean it, it just dissolves. Doesn’t feel luxurious or sturdy at all anymore.

Wondering if thats the earlier EQ’s, as the EQE AMG I viewed the other week had a very good quality feeling and appearance, also interior felt more up to date than the Taycan. But didn’t have the full interior customisation or options that the Taycan offered.

Well this car in particular was sold in the minute after I went off. It was a good deal. But that’ll be my strategy going forward. ??

it has never be ascertained that it was the car that caught fire.
there were reports that there was a golf cart charging in the same garage , this is the facebook post from the fire dept. note that there is no mention of the cause of the fire.
