FWIW you don't have to completely back down to 50% to complete charging at home. Setting the charger at 32A should work.
Is that possible with PMC+? I thought we only had 50 or 100 % as options.

No, it's not. I have the PMCC, where you can adjust the current in 2 amp increments. You're right about the PMC+ not having that option.

I am a relatively new Taycan 4S owner (3500 miles). So far, the car has been great with the exception of some of the known issues I have read about (back up camera, PCM wackiness, etc). I recently took the car on a round trip from Phoenix to Indian Wells, CA stopping for a charge at EA in Quartzite (which was totally seamless). When I got the car home last week, I plugged it in for charge overnight (Home profile to 85% at optimized charging). When I went to drive it on Tuesday morning, I got the following:

I thought it was just an anomaly, drove to work, spent lunch charging at the Wal Mart EA station with no issue other than the SOC when at 85% was about 180 miles (before the road trip it had been 200-ish miles). Plugged it in on Thursday using the same profile as mentioned above and got the following:

Did a little research and saw it was suggested to switch off optimized charging and move to a timed charge. Switched this in the existing profile, plugged it in and received yet another error message. I pressed Direct Charging in the car and it started charging with no error although I had to manage it up to 85%.

The other steps I have taken are to delete the profile, turn off and lock the car, wait 5 minutes, turn it back on and create a new profile - same charging error result. So, it charges on EA. It charges on Direct Charging, but throws off the error every time I try to use a profile at home. The dealer just wanted me to schedule an appointment (3 weeks from now). I wanted to see if anyone else had seen this error and if there was a fix
I note that you are in Arizona. I am guessing that your garage is probably 90 degrees or better when you are charging. I live in Texas and got the same error message last summer - garage was high 80's to low 90's. The next time that I charged the cable was HOT (do a search - this is common). Ironically I have a small floor fan that is used to dry carpet when you have a water leak..........another story.............I turned the fan on it's back so that the blower was angled up blowing directly on the charger and Viola! - no error message and none since as I turn the fan when charging the car in the summer. As a 'test' I do not turn the fan on in the fall, winter or spring and do not get the error message.

My dealer does not show a work order. If someone has it, please post. I am still having issues that only started in March 2022 after 1.5 years of no overheating. Garaged in Fl, no changes. Thanks -

Hi guys. Same problem here but I don’t understand why the problem is happening only when using a profile during charge and not during direct (100%) ... any idea?

and I’m charging at home with ABB Wallbox (plus e meter) 7.4kw

ps: winter here and cold cable

It is indeed (Porsche Mobile Charger Plus):

Your post is confusing. Are you agreeing that the only options are 50 and 100 % on PMC+ or are you saying it’s possible to set PMC+ to 32A (which is what I was replying to in the post you quoted)?

Only 50% or 100% of whatever supply you provide. Diagram is from the PMC+ manual.

PMC+ is at least 7.4kW capable which in UK would require a 32A supply.

Yep, with my 40A supply there is no way to get 32A out of PCM+.

If you change the breaker to 30 amps, and the outlet to a NEMA 6-30 or NEMA 14-30, and get the corresponding supply cable for the PMC+, then you should get a faster charge than running at 50% and still avoid overheating.

I got a Lectron 40A EVSE a while ago and everything is great.

I ordered and received my Taycan in August of 2022. Had charging problems from the start. My charger will only run for about 10 minutes the fails, the cord too hot to touch. I first went to electrify America and could not charge. What I was told from the dealership that the factory did not install the software and that would fix everything. When I got the car back I was told my charger was ok. When I tried it again you could not even hold the cord in your hand it was so hot. Its now going on nine month of nothing but lies from the dealership. The car has some smaller issues but the charging is the main issue. I want to stop here and say I'm really torn because I like the features and style of the car, but considering invoking the lemon law. I finally contacted Porsche USA and have been treated like garbage from the start. I could not believe this because I owned other high end exotics and they always given me the white glove treatment and respect. I was contacted the other day by a class action attorney and this is what I know. Porsche has a big problem with their charging system. New York has already filed a class action and now it is going national. Porsche knows they have a problem and if you charge in your garage you could be at risk of burning down your home. When you been in to the same dealership a few time they come clean and tell you the charger has problems and tell you to only charge at 50% because they have no fix. I understand it not just within the charger. The dealerships have been put under a NDA or lose their dealerships to my understanding. If you take your car in likely they will down grade your charging within your software to slow down the charging. Software depending on your year has already been down loaded to cut out batteries that are failing from the over heating and that occurs when you get the error. There is a lot you can read about this on the internet including a whistle blower within Porsche hat has come forward. He claims that the problem effects 60 percent of the car the day you drive away from the dealership.
