Courtesy of ChatGPT, top 10 non-battery post-warranty repair/replace expenses in $USD, all data mined from here on the TaycanForum.com.

1. Complete drivetrain (motor + 2-speed gearbox) — ~$40,000

2. PCCB brakes (all four rotors + pads, install & bedding) — ~$25,000

3. Front-end coolant pipe/connector leak (major disassembly) — ~$11,000

4. HVAC: electric A/C compressor + controller/module (diag, evac/charge, programming) — ~$10,000

5. Full air-suspension replacement (all 4 struts, calibration, alignment) — ~$10,000

6. Front radar sensor/module + calibration — ~$9,000

7. On-board AC charger (OBC) replacement — ~$7,400

8. Drive-motor inverter replacement — ~$6,000

9. Matrix LED headlight assembly (one side, coding/aim) — ~$5,000

10. Steering rack/gear with tie rods — ~$5,100

Any single one of these occurring (or even a partial for the PCCB brakes or air suspension) would make the Extended Warranty rational retrospectively.

I’m just about to extend my factory warranty for another three years this morning at £3,000 ($4,037).

Those repair costs make me feel soooo much better about the expense. Thank you @satchurator !

For me it comes down to potential costs vs how painful the warranty fee is. And at 1.2k-ish euros per year the fee pain is minimal, whereas I'd feel stupid if my car needed 30k of work.

It's correct to view it as an insurance, but for Porsche they need to break even at manufacturer prices whereas if I have to pay for repairs it will be at retail prices. So in theory they can price the warranty lower on average.

I'll be extending my warranty after the CPO year runs out.

Just renewed it myself here in the Netherlands, it was exactly € 3525 for 3 years coverage. My Taycan still had coverage until nov 2026...that is now extended to nov 2029. I find it worth it.
Mine was also € 3,525 insurance premium for 3 years, however also needed to pay € 600 something fee to the dealer.. 🙄

Was your warranty already expired? In that case you had to pay 600 for the 111 point check.

All these extended warranty prices being thrown around in recent posts are so much lower than post-warranty-expiry prices. That seems obvious (higher risk for vehicle out of warranty and maybe older), but worth stating for those reading these threads and looking around.

Same here but I already knew how good the extended warranty was, my old Cayenne cost £1,500 to extend every 2 years and in one of those periods the OPC charged Porsche GB £32,000 for repairs and that was at the reduced internal labour rate, the cost to me would have been £40k+. Best £1,500 I ever spent!
