Feedback Please - "Bare Essentials" Porsche Taycan

Hi all,

For some context, I am upgrading from a Toyota Prius lol. So any Porsche will be a huge upgrade for me. With that in mind, I want a "bare bones" Porsche Taycan with only the most essential items.

Me: I will not take long trips in the car, and again I'm coming from a Prius, so the cornering/suspension of the base Taycan will probably be plenty for me. But if you think air suspension is a "must", I'm open to hearing why.

the non-AI chat bot would add the following:

• Adaptive Air Suspension incl. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) - better ride is always appreciated - and you can raise it up to avoid driveway scraping and such
• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) - I personally always spec this or equivalent - you don't have to use it - but it's nice on longer trips and stop & go traffic.
• Preparation for Porsche Dashcam (Front and Rear) - $130 - just incase
• consider dropping the 2+1 rear seating option
• heated seats are wonderful thing - but may not be your jam…

I’m not sure you need the 400VDC/150kW option if you aren’t taking long trips (unless you also won’t be changing at home in general), but it’s not hurting anything if you prefer to have it just in case.

The base car is great as-is, but if you’re looking for opinions, I would be looking at the following options:

• 360 surround view (forces folding mirrors also) $1530
• Ventilated seats (forces 14-way minimum) $2140 (maybe not necessary in Bay Area - I don’t know)

If I were speccing what I consider a minimum option Porsche, I would need the following:

Air Suspension
BOSE
ACC
Whichever seat option fits my body best
Rear axle steering
Sport chrono (simply for the ease of use of the dial)

Personally, I would need more, but much of that is personal preference. The above is based on my ownership experience.

I have a rwd with air suspension. The air suspension really adds to the dual nature of the car. In normal, it is quite smooth. In sport, it feels quite a bit stiffer. I was coming from a boxster. So the dual nature appealed to me. The smooth was a big plus. My wife loves it.

that being said, I like my Neptune blue paint better than the air suspension. I got one comment one that Porsches can carry real color. That kind of sums it up for me.

don’t worry about the small battery. It’s plenty big. Even for road tripping. I got the bigger battery. But I have yet to do something the base battery couldn’t have handled.

I’d say get the base premium package and call it a day. Nothing else.

Only other essential add-on based on personal need and use case would be Performance battery (if you need added range), air suspension (more comfort and flexibility of adjustable ride height), and choice on wheel style.

1. Add lane change assist. It is Taycan's blind spot monitor. Most cars have blind spot monitor. I'd consider it a standard feature, but here it is an option.

2. Consider adding the following - they are not essential, but very nice to have in a Taycan:
adaptive cruise control
ventilated front seats
performance battery plus
power folding mirrors
sports chrono package

You might see what the net cost change would be by adding the premium package - which includes the glass roof which you have already included.

Standard seat belts are black. Is that what you want?

Thank you! Added the air suspension. The front seats have heated feature standard right? I opted not to add them for the rear.

careful read of this link for your Taycan model will be very illuminating - it's more than just "bull nose" - it's actually a detailed list of what you'll get with _NO OPTIONS_ - if heated seats are not listed they are not included for example...

Thanks! Yes it looks like front heat seating is included.

To me "bare essentials" means functionality over looks, so if budget is tight, I'd say swap out model designation, center caps, ambient lighting and headrest crests for rear axel steering. Taycan will look better than the Prius even in its base configuration, but rear wheel steering will help make the Tacyan feel a little smaller around tight spaces.

Taycan is a lot longer/wider than a Prius so i would definitively add Rear Wheels Steering as it makes the car feels like a much smaller car (easier to park, to navigate in tight environnement etc...)

I came from a 7 year old Golf and everything felt like a huge upgrade, even the widely criticised PCM.

The options I would add at a minimum are:

* rear axel steering - very helpful in cities, gives it the turning circle of a much smaller car
* 20 inch wheels - look significantly better
* Folding mirrors
* Air suspension - aside from ride quality being able to the raise the car is useful given it's quite low
* Bose - I like music and the standard would bother me
* Surround View - I find it really helpful when parking
* Lane Change Assist (LCA) - safety above all

Everything else, bigger battery etc, I think you can do without if necessary.
