Can you take a picture of the said location please ?
I don't have my car yet.

I have had a loaner Taycan with the Porsche cam installed. It integrates with the rearview mirror - behind which will be the cables and power may be shared from the rain sensor module and camera.

I don't think there is rear wiring as the option doesn't specify it.

Ask your dealer or download the instructions for the camera as it will likely be documented there.

Hmm, how you you interpret this option I have in my MY23 build?

Simples - it doesn't say that on the UK / Europe configurator ;-) - and it's free :)

Perhaps its different for different markets and they charge for the rear....anyone's guess I'd say.

Interesting that US gets front+rear pre-wire for $130, UK gets free front only, no option for rear. ?

I have the pre-wiring for dashcam in my car (delivered nov. 2022). No apparent connections.
On the German Porsche website appears a distinctive dashcamset for cars with the pre-equipment (part n° 9Y0 044 951).
It is cheaper than the set for the retrofit of "older" cars without pre-wiring (part° 9Y0 044 930A)

I ordered OEM and opted for pre-wiring . I messed up
I optioned pre-wire as it is a small cost and but I do agree on the pictures that it does look way too large. However, I plan on sticking with it as I like OEM options since my dealer said it is plug and play on the pre-wire with no special install required and I do not believe you will notice it since it is in an empty space behind the mirror as shown and it has a Porsche text on it which looks cool.

To me the biggest drawback of the OEM solution is the fact that it removes wireless Apple CarPlay feature.

its because they both require wifi connection . It doesn’t bother me since I use two phones

Absolutely, only a drawback to people who care about wireless CarPlay.

The issue with the OEM Porsche dash cam being intrusive is the side which the mount is on. As you can see if the photo, the mount is on the left of the camera (as you're looking forward).

This means that in order to centre the camera in the windshield, the camera must be mounted to the LEFT of the rear view mirror, so for us left-hand drive people it is very intrusive and in the field of view. See photo #1. Of course this is not an issue with right-hand driver like UK.

Blackvue cameras have the mounting point on the right, so for the majority of the world, this allows the camera to be mounted on the right side of the rear mirror, therefore hiding it completely. See photo #2 which is my set up. The camera is barely visible from the drivers side.

The actual contact point is also MUCH smaller for the Blackvue, approximately 1/3 of the OEM cam.

Why Porsche decided to use the wrong side of the mount is anyone's guess. Maybe they're secretly Anglophiles in Stuttgart lol

Actually all the Blackvue cameras I installed over the years could be mounted on the right or the left (rotate the camera with mount 180 degrees and set the rotate image setting in the firmware so the recording is not upside-down).

Is there not a left hand and right hand version?
