Front lower Louvres

Our vehicle have allegedley automatic louvres in the front bumper in front of the 'radiator matrix'. I have NEVER seen mine in the closed position be it cold ambient or warm, battery hot or cold, Range mode, sport all combinations. Are they 'broken'? My Macan had them and they stayed closed until automatically opening as temperatures increased.
Any helpful information of the mystical workings of this aero fearure would be welcome before it gets referred to the dealer next week.
The Porsche explanation is as clear as mud.

I saw mine for the first time the last month. A friend got in and reversed and they were closed … I was like wtf!

I think they close when the battery is cold to help with warm it up by stopping air cooling down the radiator.

Mine opened as soon as I was like "STOP, the something looks broken" (car stopped.)

PAA Porsche Adaptive Aerodynamics - all Taycans have had this since 2019 (as do other models).

There is a video on the forum where someone was sad enough to film it.

It is temperature and drive mode dependent. Potential to stick also but I'd hope there would be a warning if there was an issue.

Experiment today. Old large mirror, suitable positioning and..
Louvres seen operating. They become active as sson as drive is selected. Once Park is pressed they open, so are always open when parked which explains why I have never seen them active.
Doing it this way around - the opposite to Macan, which is closed until they are required to open - exercises the machanisn every start/park cycle which presumably reduces the likelihood of the system seizing and becoming unservicable.

Procedure to watch the Louvres move and run the test program of closing and opening:

Enable preheating, on unlock, in options.
Lock car and leave it preferably overnight.
Go out to car and watch the flaps while you unlock it
Flaps will close and open again

Excellent knowledge there V8Turbo1974. A lot of faffing about with mirrors (no smoke) made redundant. Simple unlock from a distance, looking at the front and hey presto - moving louvres. Usually get to the car in the garage from the other end. Now I know what some of the whirring and clicking sounds are upon unlock.

When you connect to a charger and the charging starts, you can hear the servo motors and see the flaps moving.

Never knew this. Will be doing some tests tomorrow to see them working. 5 years I’ve had the car and never noticed!
