A tad frustrated, as I purchased my Taycan just back in March and it’s going in for a 5th visit next week for a warranty job on the heater completely failing recently.

I had my previous car (Tesla) 3 years and it hadn’t been in for any work. Seems it’s one thing after another. With my taycan 4s. Question to all, when you adjust the heating does your screen flicker bright and dim ?

I feel for a luxury car brand the issues I’ve had so far is pretty bad if I’m honest. Anybody else’s heater failed recently ?

There are many heaters failing constantly.
Someone reported he is on his 5th heater on here.

Do a search for 'heater' and have a look at some of the most recent posts.

Hopefully they can fix yours faster than they can in the UK, due to a shortage of Taycan trained technicians here.

I personally couldn't live with all the faults and poor Porsche dealership experience with my Taycan and sold it after 3 years.

I have never noticed any flickr no.

How old is the car? Indeed some have been problematic. I got mine new in May 23 and have now driven 75kkm with no issues. So there does exist examples that is not constantly at the workshop.

I have had the heater matrix changed twice but because of a recall campaign I haven't had one fail in use.
OTOH I have had malfunction of the ventilation system, which is intermittent, with no flow from the vents even though I can hear a fan, and either completely blocking the windows with condensation in winter or being very hot in summer.
It used to happen so infrequently I hadn't bothered to get it chaecked, but need to now.

unfortunately you have joined the club for Taycan owners with broken heaters. It is quite a frequent failure. One of the most troublesome issues is that it has not been diagnosed and rectified for more than 6 years now. There are many cars that have had several heaters replaced and there are some that have had no trouble at all. It feels like Porsche see that heater replacement as a necessary step for winter preparation, just like changing tyres? I have listened around with many other EV owners, and apart from a few Audi etron GT owners, I have not heard anyone with broken heaters. I often talk to owners at charging stops at Ionity or other HPC. Most likely people that frequently use their cars for long distance driving.

Extremely poor performance by Porsche to not having sorted this issue out in six years. I think they hope they can get away with it, very much like the IMS problems in 996.

I have never noticed any flicker when adjusting the temperature etc.

Blimey 5th heater repair ! It’s getting me worried ! Fingers crossed they can sort this. It’s so far been in for 1. Broken front seat, had to be removed and a piece of metal cut off that was rubbing/squeeking. 2. Front suspension repaired as when moving slow and bouncing it was loudly squeeking. 3. 1st HV arb6 recall. 4. Went back in for batt heath check diagnostics as I somehow lost 30 miles range overnight ! Charge last night for instance and a hives 190 miles, use to be 230+ the demonstrated 250 miles when purchased. 5. Back in for 2nd HV arb6 batt recall. 6. Back in next week as heaters have failed. As said I’m a bit worried ! Let’s see. Maybe I am within my rights to ask for a refund !

Thanks for reply- Yeh it’s almost a question of having endured 5 recalls already with now the heater failure and proven lost range, do I or am I within my rights to say this is not the car that was sold and so what can you offer in terms of a refund.

hello, you have just correctly described what’s going on with mine. In that I can hear them but no flow coming through only some on the windscreen which somehow just about clears the condensation after a while on full tilt but it’s still not heating the car.

Hi, it’s May 2022 model 4s 32000miles. On another note - When I bought in March was also achieving 240 miles which was a deal breaker for them to prove it out before purchase, which they did, and now under similar temperatures from back in March and after 2 nr ARB6 recalls I’m achieving 190 miles and have to switch to range mode to achieve just 210 miles. I am just banging my head against the wall when I complain about this as they say the battery has 92% health when checked.

I was thinking the drop in range may just be the onset of winter, as it affects all EVs. But you say temperature is similar.

Maybe have a look at your personal miles/kwh achieved over time rather than using the guessometer.

In the UK I see about 20% swing summer to winter.

Regarding rejecting the car. It will be dependant on Consumer laws in your country - as this obviously varies on geographical location.

Mine had 3 heaters and numerous recalls/ faults (more than all my other cars combined in 40+ years driving).
The awful dealer experience eventually made me get rid of it.
Expensive cost for poor service personally.

Good luck and hope you get it sorted one way or another.

Yes let’s see what happens on Thursday, when it goes into Porsche Silverstone ! Will reset back - on the range topic and on your comment in temperature - see copied email below to Porsche -

Hi Justin, thanks for firming up the suspension booking. On another note, as discussed ready for you to look at - please see info & video link from Porsche York demonstrating that the car could achieve 240-250 range back in the colder March temperatures.

And since I received the ARB6 and letter, and the temperature now being now warmer in May, I notice that I am achieving way less @209-215 mile range.
See you in June & have a good wkd.

you see what I mean it got warmer and I lost range ! Really frustrating when that there is not a lot I can do !

I had mine changed a year ago when the car went in for a recall. I hadn’t noticed it was broken at the time. Last week my car went in for a 2nd year service last and apparently the heater was broken again. Fixed under warranty but worrying that this problem keeps recurring. Apparently it cost £4K to fix (£800 part plus labour). Ridiculous.

Heater replaced December 2024, yet experienced intermittent AC flow issues later (it was summer). Harness issue corrected by the high-tech, "chafe tape."

chafetape.webp
While the tape might sound funny, the explanation and the logic of how the work was performed is very high level - it's a very difficult fault to find. They did find it, and that's the actual high-tech part.
I wonder why the connector was rubbing in the first place though - I bet it was because the first time the heater was replaced some things weren't quite put together as before.
