You guys arent nearly harcore enough. I first collect rainwater, purify it via reverse osmosis, then power wash it using that water, throwing away the power washer for each panel, using a fresh powerwasher reduces the chance of damage. I find car soap too harsh so I use only a lavender oil infusion I create myself. I ensure that I only use each lavender plant once, I have 10 acres of lavender to accomplish this. To dry, I employ a team of infants to gently blow on the vehicle. I also tend to reapply my ppf after every wash just in case there is yellowing about to occur. Finally, I place the vehicle in a dust proof negative pressure chamber. I do not drive the vehicle ever because I realised that outside is where dirt comes from
Lavender flower oil or lavender spike oil?

I go to the coin cash wash and go through all programs to clean the worst stuff. Then I drive home and do 2 bucket method, but use “no rinse” car wash (great for winter as I can complete it in the garage).

But once in a while I go to experts who can clean the car unlike I ever could… they make it look like new.

Previous car, used bucket, car wash soap (Simoniz), wash with garden hose, dry with Chamois leather - 30 mins, simples! Not for the Taycan though…

I’ve watched plenty of detailing videos, would highly recommend videos from Vermijl Detailing from Belgium.

Problem is having seen these videos, washing the Taycan is like organising an orchestra.

Karcher K2, wash with snow foam, rinse, wash with Autoglym wash foam, rinse, then Autoglym beading spray, wipe dry with damp Rag Company microfibre. 2 hours

Hosepipe, extension leads and Karcher hose get twisted round each other so easily, drives me nuts. I’m sure I have better things to do with my time….

Just for info, if you’re doing it this way, don’t be tempted to water rinse before the initial snow foam. The snow foam on a dry car is better, there is a video (forget whose) which proves the point. And of course avoid on hot day with the car in direct sun, overcast conditions better for washing - easy in the UK!

I wash approximately weekly with two basic setups. One is a rinseless wash method and the other is a foam cannon method with buckets.

Looks like we have the same affliction!
Thankfully I have soft water and felt comfortable to skip the DI. Has been working great so far.

Wonderful thread. Not hardcore enough? I buy a new Taycan after each drive, to avoid over cluttering my garage with detailing items. I save money too, by not have to constantly buy "new car smell" hanging trees for the rearview mirror. ;)

Each to their own.

The detailing world seems made for people who are happy with having CDO.

*Same as OCD, but with the letters in alphabetical order.
?
I think that is a fair assessment. It is possible to do detailing well, enjoy it, and not take it to the extreme though. As with most hobbies, internet enthusiasts have a tendency to try to one up each other. In general, a car that is washed a couple of times a month will be fine.

I use the Mini+ and it works great for every possible situation.
I like the BigBoi dryer too - it gets all that trapped water out from the Taycan’s handles and roof rails. They also do an attachment which turns it into a vacuum which works well.

In all seriousness I didnt realize that a built in system was even an option, illuminating! I do a two bucket with synthetic chamois to dry, using ceramic wash and wax. Pretty easy

Ceramic Coating is in lieu of waxing.
Waxing gives a different look and needs to reapplied all the time. Not the case with ceramic coating

I have never washed it since I have collected it 10 weeks ago. I had no time and I don’t want anybody to touch it. In CT cloths it looks fine dirty and a bit muddy ?. I just park it outside when heavy rains poor down.. still got straws on the mats after off roading a field…and lots of dust ?. I have also experienced over the Years frustration after every wash. The collection of light scratches, stones chips and minor marks gets me anxious and the need of perfection makes me unhappy.

Costco car wash for $7.99.
285 rear tires just fit the wheel trough. Put chassis of CT on high or lift setting. Claims to put some ceramic coating on. No damage............yet. Cleans the inside of the wheels too.
Then Maguire's spray quick wax every few or so months. $10 spray bottle.
Maguire's protectant on all interior components Including seats. $12 spray bottle.
Or you can use Vaseline to clean and condition leather. $1.59 jar.
As for the myth about Vaseline rotting
stitching and such, that is just it, a myth. I had a Maserati that I bought used with all leather interior. Spare tire even cosseted in leather. Could not get off coffee spill spots and other unknown stains around seat belts etc with the expensive Lexon products.
I looked in the owner's manual and it recommended "Vasalino".
Works great!
