I really like Innodrive, is it perfect? No, is it very relaxed driving? Yes!
saves me fines when on the phone not paying attention to speed limits.

Is the Innodrive option more expensive to purchase after delivery (assuming one has ACC), or same price as if one was to include Innodrive in their delivery of their Taycan?

Innodrive is far worse than Tesla basic autopilot. They both have one thing in common, which is trying to kill me.

I have Innodrive and would not get it again. ACC is enough for me.

The problem I had is that the database (along with the camera that is reading signs) is not 100% accurate. I had one narrow uphill road to get to my mother’s house in Switzerland that is a very slow 40km/h (for good reason). Although there is no speed limit sign that could be misread by the camera it would at exactly the same place accelerate from 40 km/h to 60 km/h.

I also had a case of misreading a sign whilst I was doing 120 km/h to 80 km/h and almost got rear ended as Innodrive decided to slow down to 80.

Ever since then I do not use it…. On the other hand ACC is absolutely fine for me and I use it every day.

From factory I took ACC. I use it daily. Just a few days back I ordered PID (Porsche InnoDrive) as FOD. Just used it once or twice and turn it off permanently now. To me a waste of money on a feature as it is managing speeds and breaks too often and too much for my liking. I can imagine on longer trips it may become useful but ACC should be enough for that as well.
The Active Lane Assist is another feature that I do not recommend as after 20 seconds or so you will need to put your hands on the steering wheel again.
Not much autonomous driving here yet.
I would settle for ACC again and leave the other stuff (i.e. active lane assist and PID) out.

I would suggest going into settings and changing so that it requires confirmation before changing speed. It will notify you when you’re nearing a new speed sign, but you need tap the cruise control stalk for it to actually do anything. With that I think it works very well.

Agree @Perry but once you do that there is not a whole lot of difference between ACC and Innodrive?

But what good is getting suggestion at exactly the speed limit? Who drives exactly the speed limit?
I always drive 5% faster than the posted speed in Switzerland (speedometer lag + tolerance on the speed cameras). So it just feels faster just using ACC rather than Innodrive where first I confirm the faster/slower speed and then again have to adjust my 5%.

That said I will still turn on Innodrive on long trips (on unfamiliar roads) with all the whistles and bells activated. But for day to day driving I use ACC and setting the speed only. I have mixed feelings about all these assist systems. Yes they are meant to keep us safe, but with all this "perceived" assistance is it just dumbing us down on our driving skills over time?

And also back to the original question: of the OP: No I would not buy Innodrive again.

An ACC question: does anyone else find it annoying that changing the set speed in 10 km/h steps has to go through 70/80/90 etc? Would it not be way simpler if the hard press / hold changed it in 10 km/h steps from where it was? E.g. from 75 to 85 directly in one press, instead of at least six presses.

I think it depends on the type of person you are and the sort of journeys you do.
I am the type of person who even finds adaptive cruise disconcerting because it doesn’t always do what I expect or want and I switched lane control off almost immediately for the same reason. I therefore chose not to even have adaptive cruise on my Taycan.

OTOH the sort of roads I use are mainly normal ones and I like driving the car myself, I almost never drive on a motorway, I have only even used cruise control on 2 journeys since I bought the car.

IIRC, it is cheaper to buy from the factory IF you want both Innodrive and ALK whereas they can be purchased separately as FoD. In the US, it’s just under $1000 for each. I specced ACC from the factory and plan to purchase ALK and just test InD. I’m gambling on the fact that I won‘t care for it.

Does anyone know if 2020 Taycan models had ACC (even as an option)?
Yes they did. I have it in my car as well as InnoDrive..

For me InnoDrive, without the automatic speed adjustments, manual setting, has been a great help on long road trips. Good to have it steer on main roads when searching for music or adjusting something.

I’m with you. I find adaptive cruise very interfering. It uses the brakes too much and accelerates too hard when you’re just on a cruise on a longer journey. I do do motorway driving and normal cruise control is fine. Lane keep also interferes with the way I drive, especially on my local motorways. I tend to drive slightly to the right of the outside lane, away from the traffic in slower lanes and it constantly whinges at me about it. When not on a motorway I wouldn’t bother with cruise as I want to drive the car as it’s fun

I also believe (and regularly witness), adaptive cruise and lane keep getting used by too many people to prop up either bad driving or simple a huge lack of attention. You’re driving a 2.3 ton missile capable of high speeds and so imo not paying good attention whilst in charge is unacceptable

Based on my experience (and the comments above), I think it's fair to say how much genuinely long distance driving you really do where you would want to engage Innodrive. I have Innodrive on my car, and in the 2.5 years that I have owned the car I have never used it. The car is too much fun to drive.
