I did a quick search and couldn't find much.....so I'm posting!

The CR2032 battery in these fob remotes, I've changed mine about 3-4x now, it seems like they last about 2-3 months and then die (granted the batteries were eBay bulk pack). I do leave my remote in the car so perhaps that's part of it....but OMG, I'm almost ready to buy rechargeable disc batteries for these remotes, the lifespan is appalling! Most my cars the remote battery is good for 4-6 years
That's exactly why it happens

Did a search and some research on Faraday pouch and for about $10 I can get 2 of them from Amazon....easy enough.
This feels like a lot of extra work when simply just taking the key into the house will solve your problem. Kinda feels ridiculous honestly lol. A key rack can be bought at walmart for $10. The rest of the world takes their keys inside their houses with no issues.

LOL, clearly you do not live with a wife and 3 kids. We have several cars, definitely better keeping the keys in the car, unlike the rest of the world

For this car and only this car, I've begun taking the remote into my office

I love reviving an old thread from time to time. ?

My Taycan started to greet me with the "Fob battery depleted, please replace" message since yesterday. I had no idea it would actually warn you that your fob battery is about to die.

Keys and car are exactly 18 months old to the day which is a bit suspicious timing. Wonder if it really is detecting low voltage on the fob or has a pre programmed timer to go off at 18 months.

Will replace the battery tomorrow. Just shouting out my experience if it helps anyone.

I truly expected the battery to last a little longer tbh.

Cheers
Tony

I've had mine for 3 1/2 years and NEVER replaced the batteries! I do not keep the keys in or anywhere near the car, tho (understand that will shorten battery life considerably)

Me neither. This is rather strange.

Was at a store buying something and saw they had cr2023 batteries. No name. Bought one, replaced while walking to the car and the message still pops up.

I now swapped it with a Panasonic (like the original) and will check in a bit or tomorrow morning.

If that message still appears I'm gonna be pissed.

Have my 30k service on Friday. I don't want Porsche to swap the battery for 30 bucks ??

A battery swap is at least 50k. Ask around ?

It was actually quoted to a guy on the German forum for 7 € for the battery and 50 € for the work + 19% VAT.

Maybe it was done with one of your services - another good way to make 12345 €/h.

Another person mentioned that it might take some time for the message to disappear after a change.

Shut up ? I just read 30 pages of the bottom scraped thread with a 78k quote. I'm scared to death to go to service now. I have a semi broken left front lip from a sidewalk drop. If I have a bottom dent I'm gonna slash my wrists in front of the dealership.

That's good info. Hopefully it goes away with the Panasonic.

57€ + vat...

I should open a fob battery replacement service for 25€ + VAT

Well, I can blast my dealer to the moon and back - but they do replace keyfob batteries for free!! Suddenly it's all worth it ?

Thanks to your thread, I'm going to reschedule my service to next week. I was already unease doing a service on a Friday 13th but now I'm definitely NOT going to do it.

I'm not very superstitious but I was ran over a car at age 10... On a Friday 13th. 10 days in the hospital was unforgettable. I avoid anything on Fridays 13th.

I'm glad your dealer doesn't charge for a fob battery swap. Seems like they're great ?? I hope you include that in your review of them ?.

I've hit a few speed bumps over the past 18 months plus that stupid sidewalk descent (car lowered from lift to normal while parked) that damaged the lower left corner of the front lip... I can already picture in my head the state of my under carriage...

Let's see what happens

Back to the FOB... Hopefully it's OK tomorrow.

I'll report

Cheers

I had a similar experience lately, but found the solution that was weird. I replaced battery as you did but still the message occurred.

Turned out the battery in my wife’s fob was bad and once that was replaced all was fine.

Just tried this morning and no funky message anymore.

Not sure it was the Panasonic vs no name or I just didn't give it enough time to re register.

I kinda want to try the no name again ?

Final update

After switching from the Panasonic back to the no name, no warning popped so it took indeed a few starts/days to make the message dissappear regardless of what new battery was put in.

@Maelstrom finally went to the 30k km service one week after the 13th (20th). No undercarriage damage was found (thank god) and they charged me 298€ for the service. Could have been much worse. They did make me sign a responsability waiver that my tires were shot and the car was undrivable (what in earth?!) ?.

So I guess I have to change tires Monday.

Cheers.
