Hi everyone,

I currently have a 23 4S, and want to get a new 26 GTS. I love my current 4S, but the range is truly disappointing as time goes on. The problem I have is that I love the looks of the 23's front end. And I really do not like the 26's front end. I don't like it enough that I am seriously considering another make. (And no I cannot afford the Turbo with the improved front end). That and the absolutely dismal configurator that Porsche has is truly disappointing.

Will the 26 grow on me? Will there be another style refresh for 27? I don't want to regret anything so I guess its to the ol positive/negatives exercise...

Porsche does one mid cycle refresh, that's it. Another style change before J2 would be extremely surprising.

I understand that J1.1 front end styling has an iconic quality to it that has struck many minds, but i find that the J1.2 sharper and more subtle design gives the J1.1 a dated look.

Is the range on the 25 GTS really that much extra vs the 23 4S to warrant all that extra cost to change?

having driven a J1.2 4S the difference wasn’t enough for me - 30-40 miles real-world on a full charge doesn’t change anything in terms of long journey planning really

Common dilemma that is top of mind for me as well.
J1 has iconic original Mission E concept look.
J2 has very generic overused front vent blah look.
J2 GTS has no distinctive front look and does not flow with the sport design add on pack.
J2 Turbo and above has distinctive front look, but why! they had to ruin the back with again very overused cutouts that contribute very little to the aerodynamics. Just about every cheap car now has front cutouts and rear cutouts, that look gimmicky.

To me, there is no winning with J2 on the look, so my plan is to wait for another redesign to hopefully bring something better looking if I am in such a place to be able to consider another Taycan.

It is documented that you would get 200 km greater range in the 26. Currently I cap out at 350 km. So that is quite an improvement

Thanks for that info. Of course looks are subjective, but I feel that the aggressive nature of the original has been taken over by something more boring

The J1.2 front end looks very generic, reminds me of the C7 Vette. They should of just left the iconic design alone and update the mechanical. Would of been a win/win for all.

I just dont know if I am willing to wait for something that may or may not be better...

FWIW, I recently upgraded from a 2020 4S to a 2025 4S and am really happy with it. The front end looks have grown on me and the range and performance are everything I had hoped for. I hadn't planned on getting the Burmester but it was in a config I found on a lot and am really enjoying it.

I'm getting 275 miles at 80% charge so at 100% should be ~340 miles. I have 20" Aero wheels (same as on the 2020). The comparable range in my 2020 was ~265 miles at 100% so pretty close to 30% improvement and I drive it like a porsche. My 2020 range had dropped to more like 230 miles by the time I traded it in.

Here's my experience in a little more detail:

I see the refreshed Teslas front end in the .2 Taycans.

Even worse, certain angles of the .2 Turbo I see a Chevy Bolt

For me the range difference between my 2020 4S and my 2025 Turbo is a game changer. I often visit places that were on the edge of the range of my 2020. I either had to chance it or work in a stop. With the 2025, I don't even have to consider a stop.

Looks are subjective but I actually prefer the J1.2 look.

Whenever I see a J1 I see a crying face with those massive tears. It’s a tiny bit better when that black tear blends with the car color (blue or black) but on a white car I really just see a crying cat…

You should plan to have 30% more as everyone is saying in these forums.
So count 450km instead of your current 350km driving the same way.
That’s already good and you could skip a stop for some long distance trips
