No explanation. They don’t know. I’m trying to get ahold of other Porsche Pros but everybody is on holiday.

I stayed at the JW Marriott in Phuket before. Was amazing.
Well, providing all Canadian Taycans have Smart Lift, I guess it's just a matter of Porsche finding the fault with yours.

Good luck!

Thank you for asking.

I still do not have Smart Lift but at least I got an explanation from Porsche as to why:
Strange as it may seem, it turns out that, for the Taycan, the Porsche Connect app is indeed required for Smart Lift to work, and the app is not available in Thailand - and will not be for the foreseeable future. So no Smart Lift, unfortunately.

I must say I was very impressed with the Porsche dealership in Bangkok and how they dealt with my "complaint".
Sorry but that makes no sense at all nor is it listed as a pre-requisite in the configurator.

What you must have is an active Porsche Connect ID so that your lift coordinates can be stored.

My Smartlift is available without any app installed.

Okay.

Is it possible for me to have a Porsche Connect ID, bearing in mind that the Porsche Connect app is not available in Thailand?

Yes of course.

Go to the main Porsche web page and click on My Porsche to register your ID.

Once registered you will / should have access to the web version of My Porsche App plus more besides.

If you don't have s Porsche ID how do you login to your car?

I have tried to register my ID. It all went well until I was asked to enter my VIN and I got this message:

"The vehicle with this vehicle identification number (VIN) cannot be added. Please enter the VIN again or contact Porsche Connect Support."

Presumably I cannot register because Porsche Connect is not available in Thailand. So, without Porsche Connect, I cannot have Smart Lift.

Correct?

P.S. I do not "log in to my car". I don't even know what that means!

Not necessarily.

Your dealer should have set this up for you at time of delivery and associated your Connect ID with your VIN.

How do you log into your car today or do you leave it in Guest mode?

You don't log in???

Ok so many features will not work in that case.

Please download the Porsche Good To Know App and read the sections on Porsche Connect.

There are many dependencies on your ID and how you interoperate with the car.

There is a menu item on the PCM for connecting and logging in.

Not if you have a MY22.

I could login for 2 weeks after collection. After that all I get is the setup screen when I start the car and all the menu items associated with login are missing.

My SOS light is green and I am receiving map updates so I have a data connection. I'm hoping all these porsche server upgrades and migrations will fix the issues.

The weirdest thing happened. I have never had Smart Lift in my PCM menu, but the function has always worked. Tried locking the car, rebooting the PCM, etc. After 6 weeks of having the car, the car notified me that a Maps update was done, and for the very first time, I now see "Smart Lift" in the menu. WEIRD!

To log in, I assume I need to have Porsche Connect.

Porsche Connect
is not available in Thailand, where I reside.

1. Create a Porsche ID via your desktop web browser (Porsche Connect not required)
2. Ask the dealer to help you associate the VIN with your Porsche ID. (Porsche Connect not required)
3. Read the manual, and go through setup to add a user in the PCM, logging in with your Porsche ID (Porsche Connect not required)
4. After you are logged in to the PCM with your Porsche ID (many people have trouble with this initially and that doesn’t have anything to do with Porsche Connect) then you can try activating lift to see if Smart Lift offers to remember that location.

You say that, but Porsche Bangkok beg to differ.

I have been through all of this with my dealership and they assure me that Porsche Connect is required for Smart Lift to work in a Thai Taycan (but not in a 911, interestingly). Thai Taycans do not have Smart Lift as Porsche Connect is not available in Thailand.

They also have told me that I, like other Thai Taycan owners, cannot log in.

Everybody here is quite eager to help you, but if you are unwilling to try these suggestions, then there isn’t anything left to discuss.
If you would be willing to forget about smartlift and Porsche Connect, and just try to get a successful Porsche ID login, you will enable some valuable and essential features in the car, even if you don’t own a mobile phone.
If you do get that far, then you would have absolutely nothing to lose by pressing the lift button to see what happens.

I did try to get a successful Porsche ID login but was unsuccessful. I then asked Porsche Bangkok how to do it. They told me I cannot. The guy that told me was brought over to Porsche Thailand from Porsche Germany to help the dealership with Taycans. Maybe he's wrong. Or maybe things are different in Thailand.

There is no Smart Lift listed in my car's PCM, so there's nothing to press.

Note: I can lift my car by pressing the lift "switch" on the display, but there's no Smart Lift.
