I see where you are coming from. In my e-tron, I push the power button and don't put it in park (and the power button doesn't need to be held down).

If I put it in park and then turn the car off, the parking brake is not automatically initiated so it rolls a bit which I do not like. If I push the power button from Drive, the parking brake is initiated, car is put in park, and the vehicle turns off.

It's not a problem for me when going from either vehicle as I just remember, but it's weird how they aren't the same given they're both VAG.

Still wish that both of these cars had walk away door lock like so many cars do, but I'm used to it now.

I did recently get an OTA update notification and successful install for the radio. It was very small and simple, however.
Those updates are PCM docker container only (think phone apps update only, not even OS update) which are trivial compared to updating actual ECUs in the system. I get those from time to time, usually preceded by a few days of "You have a notification", me clicking on it and seeing "No notifications", then eventually one day there is a update notification which I can click once I park the car.

Yeah, I recognize. I thought someone said in a different thread that Porsche intentionally limited their OTA updates, but I'm too lazy to search for it

Ah, yet another "perk" of Audi. Btw, it will auto-set the parking brake when parked on a hill. Also, apparently other Audi's have auto-parking-brake setting available to program via OBDeleven, but when I tried it on the Q8 etron, the coding step failed :(IIRC the only thing I was able to code was Scandinavian DRL's.

The page in post #67 came from an official Porsche document distributed to dealers. They had grand plans (Tesla makes it look easy), which they were unable to execute on. There was no intentional limiting of OTA, Porsche just couldn't figure out how to do them reliably. If they could make it work, would have saved them a ton of money on Taycan recalls. Last I heard even FOD is being rolled back because they couldn't figure how to make it reliable (too expensive to have to pay for dealer to fix FOD results, which a number of people reported).

Nonsense, I received two OTA updates last week. And did install a FOD a couple of weeks ago. All without problems

and yet other folks have tried FOD multiple time all of which have failed requiring booking the car into the dealer to reset the OTA module.

If you're talking app updates, like music app, dynamic search, etc, the sure. No way you got two OTA's of any ECU's in a week. Even upgrade like getting the color icons for older cars, which is still PCM/MIB3 but more than just apps, required dealer visit. FOD worked for some, as did OTA updates, but not for others. In my case I waited few months after receiving the email my OTA is coming, followed the process of shutting off the car and waiting at least once a week (I typically would never do that, I just put it in park, get out, and the car goes off when I lock it). No joy, OTA never came. Next recall came, so dealer installed it when there.

So back to my original point, Porsche never made OTA & FOD work reliably (nor conveniently), hence it works for some, not for others. No such issues with Tesla, not even a decade ago when they were starting up. They knew it was a crucial part to get right, as it lets you fix other things you didn't.
