Hi all, so I am loving my new (new to me at least) 2021 black on black Taycan. Frist mod I considered was something to block the sun at times when it's beaming down hard at nigh noon - without committing to a permanent dark tint. I know you're thinking black on black is an invitation to feeling hot but nonetheless, I needed a solution. So I just installed this removable sunshade and it's pretty darn good - good enough to make me want to share it with others. Install took only seconds to minutes and is pretty non-committal, i.e. you can remove it easily and it doesn't make any permanent modifications/marks on the car. Enjoy your miles!

I'm potentially interested in this. Do the little clips stay attached to the shade when you take it out, or do they stay in the car? Looks like it is solely wedged in place regardless, but I'm just trying to decide whether I would actually use it. Would only be for the (pretty rare) occasions where I would leave the car outside in the sun for an entire afternoon.

Great find. Pictures would be most helpful when installed.
I got the last one (groovey sunshades) that was considered the best 2 years ago that is perforated.

If only there was an option where the roof was permanently protected from sun, rock chips, etc. Like what if they extended the same body material from the sides up and over the top of the car?
Seems like that would solve this issue...

Thanks for the tip; I'll keep that in mind. I'm in FL and it's already 85-90F here. I don't have an issue with the top (yet) but I feel heat radiating from the windshield (have tint on the. sides). I'm going to get the windshield done and wait to see if I need something for the top when we hit "surface of the sun" temps in June-Aug. :)

My two cents for what is worth..................I took delivery of my Taycan in February 2021 and drive it in the Texas sun almost daily. I have not 'felt' heat from the roof to any great extent - or at least to any memorable extent. I feel more heat from the windshield when driving into the sun. The air conditioner AND the ventilated seats do a pretty good job of keeping us cool.....................?

I just tried. I removed il the shade and clips stay with the shade. No residue or anything to suggest it was ever there.

Here are the pictures and one video....

#1 front view looking up. You may be able to see the clip in the middle
#2 side view of passengers side, two clips
#3 rear view looking back from driver's seat, one clip in middle
#4 short video of front clip pushed in and pulled out with thumb

Interesting. Didn't even occur to me that OP might have been talking about leaving it in place while driving. I agree that should be a non-issue (as it was with my Tesla for the past 4 years here in Atlanta). I was thinking about it only for when the car is parked in the sun all day. But truthfully, I think it's probably not necessary for that either. Though I might get an old-fashiobed windshield screen to use while parked, since the windshield is not tinted.

@admatian, thank you for sharing detailed pictures. I can see that this is much higher quality than the groovey. I can see that it comes in black, which would be my choice for my black/chalk interior.

Great find as many were disappointed when groovey discontiuned it.

Use case for me is that on a direct sun day, the sun brightness is bit much especially on a long drive. Otherwise, I agree for most it is not necessary.

I went to order via the Amazon link you included then notice the very mixed reviews (some very positive for sure...) but with one saying "Def does not fit Taycan models." Any thoughts? thx

Hi Stu, I've had mine now since the time of this original thread and throughout the hot LA summer months. It was great. The only issue I have is that it's not easy to quickly remove in case you want to catch a glimpse of the sky. Then putting it back on it a task only possible if you've pulled over and not driving. Also, one side of mine is slightly warping and shrinking. Would I remove it though despite these issues - no way. I'd rather live with the above issues than drive all day under the hot sun. Maybe through the winter months I'll keep it off. Again, these are totally first world problems lol.

Enjoy the weekend,
David.
