When you charge a pb+ to 100% from zero, are you putting in the usable amount 83.7KwH or the full amount of 93.4KWH. Sorry if this has been asked before. I’m doing a rebalance of my battery so charging to100%. Thanks

83.7kWh is the usable capacity at 100% SoH so you are not going to have that as you put on the miles and years on the car. Therefore, OBD reading is helpful to see what the current actual usable capacity is and then you measure SoH before and then after the rebalance to see how much you gained which is temporary. SoH is reported by the worst cell in the pack, so after rebalance you can have a bad cell come forward so your SoH will drop or all of your cells become better resulting in increased SoH by as much as 3% that we have seen on this forum. My SoH increase was in a 2% range after the rebalance before going back to the trend. Overall trend has been 91% SoH after 10k miles then it has leveled at about 86% at 20k miles and steady at that level at 25k miles.

83.7kWh x 86% SoH = 71.98kWh usable battery capacity and cross checks to OBD actual read out.

I discharged the car to 1 % last night, left it overnight and when I went back this morning it said there was 5%. I’ve charged it all day to 98% and it seems to have taken in around 79kw. Car now says 98% full. I will now leave it overnight. With my calculations it is the 83.7kw. Thanks for your response.

I had 8 orange cells from CT14 garage program. My voltage delta was 0.072 this is why I did a rebalance. I’m hoping in the morning when I test again the modules have balanced out and voltage delta has reduced. What is a good level to have?

I don’t remember the value, but after rebalancing the wife’s CT4, the battery modules were all the same voltage. The car had several cells flagged, I think yellow. I did the rebalance last summer, have checked the car since and all modules were still green.

ours did the same thing, took down to 1% then the next day was at 5%.

Thank you all for your help. After a rebalance my modules are all green and my volt delta is 0.017 so seems healthy. I did a diagnostic and it says battery healthy and doesn’t seem to have any of the coded problems that some get.

Depends on the Taycan and Taycan generation- J1.1 (2020 - 2024) or J1.2 (2025 model year to current)

J1.1 Performance Battery

Gross 82.3 kWh
Net (useable) 79 kWh

J!1.1 Performance Battery Plus

Gross 93.4 kWh
Net (useable) 83.7 kWh

J!1.2 Performance Battery

Gross 89 kWh

Net (useable) 82.3 kWh

J!1.2 Performance Battery Plus

Gross 105 kWh
Net (useable) 97 kWh

Thanks for this. Is there a reason j1.1 has a bid difference between gross and net. Seems a lot higher than the others.

Honestly don't know. It is a different battery chemistry and possibly different physical make-up. More likely, Porsche have been less conservative with the battery headroom for the Battery Management System (BMS) so rather than have more headroom went for additional useable capacity to help with range (which is an achilles heal for the Taycan and in particular J1.1 models - imagine making the mistake of having the basic PB on a J1.1 and attempting to go to the shops in 0C in the middle of winter (??)). As Tesco made clear, "every little helps!".

86% at 20k miles is not baseline, that's worst case scenario.
I've seen many cars with 50k+ on the clock and over 90% SoH.

What’s the best way of checking SOH. After rebalancing my volt delta is 0.017. I think my battery is good. I am still getting a range of over 200 in this cold and around 250 in the summer. But would like to be able to check. Car has 45000 on it now.

My meaning of trend was of my own trend, to say that after rebalance you get a temporary bump and then you lose it. You are absolutely correct that I appear to be on the worst side of the trend consistent with hot climates where I am not. This the a broader trend that has not been updated in this thread but still give you a good idea of the trend of forum owners who reported their miles and SoH.

SoH value is shown by the CarScanner in several Dashboard views.
