Plug and charge no longer works on my 2022 Taycan 4S. I have tried multiple EA locations and multiple chargers at each location without success. I have asked Porsche customer service to help on this. It has been three days and they don’t have a clue as to what is causing the problem. Has anyone had similar issues?

What happens when you just plug it in?

Did you not get a Porsche charging card with the car?

No I didn’t get a charging card. I would just drive up to an Electrify America unit, plug in, and unit would initiate the change, and the charge would proceed. It no longer does that, now I just get a message on the charger that says “Payment Declined”.

I had a similar problem and had never gotten PnC to work. I called Porsche and was told EA was installing new software by 4/30. I could never get a further detail or verification but when I tried again a few days before the end of April it finally worked like magic on the same chargers that had never worked before. The chargers I used were all Signet chargers which some have said were the ones most often not working with P nC. I assume you do have PnC activated on your PCM Is the only other thing I can think of.

Mine worked for the entire first year (MY21). Once the free charging expired and I had to renew (for free), then I started seeing the same message.

EA helped me charge once by enabling the charger for me. Then I called Porsche and they told me to sign in as guest and then back to me before turning off the car and walking away for at least 10 min. I did that twice over two days.

The next time I went to charge, same issue. This time Porsche told me that plug & charge won’t work and that I always need to use the My Porsche app to initiate the charge before plugging in the car.
I have currently disabled plug&charge from the menu.

I had issues with my 22 in the beginning, took it back to the dealer and they were no help at all.
went to a charging station and called EA. They were great, not sure what they did but they fixed it and I have not a problem since.

Thank you for your input. One way or another it appears that it is both a Porsche and anEA issue. After all in reality they are owned by the same parent company. I finally found out on my own, by trial and error, that the only way to charge is by turning off PnC in the PCM and then initiating the charge via the My Porsche app. The reps at EA and Porsche were nice enough on my numerous calls, except they were totally unable to help. I believe it is irresponsible of Porsche to place owners in a situation where their safety is jeopardized, as happened to me late one night in a dark corner of a Walmart parking lot surrounded by sketchy people, as I tried to figure this out. If the any other industry was so poorly prepared in the release of a new product the public outrage would be notable. Maybe it is time to regulate EV charging as a public utility, as Porsche has performed deficiently and dismally. I expected more for 125k.

Thank you for input. I think it is a problem with multiple layers of error on the part of Porsche, malfunctioning of a charger at a specific location, system wide problems with defective software, pleasant but sometimes inept customer service people.
I think I will try what you did, go back to a charger and call EA on more time.

My car is at the dealership now to fix the same "Payment Decline" issue. It seems like the dealer is struggling to find a solution. The P&C was working for the longest time until myPorsche account being reset after the last software update. Anyone found a solution?

We have yet to have P&C work. App always works. We have only tried EA a couple of times to test charging, so we have only used a couple of chargers local to us at two locations. When we asked we were told a update is coming. But that's starting to sound like a standard line.

My Taycan is now at the dealership having factory reset that is being directed by Porsche headquarters, because plug and charge doesn’t work. Supposedly the charger ID in the car didn’t update in concert with the app. The wrong EA account number was in the car and the only way to remove it is to do a complete reset. Tomorrow will reveal wether that is really true or just a shot in the dark by the Porsche gurus who are apparently on a steep learning curve.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the issue with ours. Initially our PCM was missing a lot of apple (Apple Music, charging planner, etc). Dealer had the car for a day to do a reset, that did nothing. Issue was escalated to PAG and they had to reset everything on the back end. Almost seemed like a token was never issued. After that data base reset, we did the enrollment again and everything works, except for P&C. It's nuts how bad support is in PCNA and PAG. And you have to push and push in order to get the issue to somebody that can actually fix it on the back end.

It is a good thing that Porsche doesn’t manufacture and develop pharmaceuticals, where products have to actually be proven before being unleashed on consumers. I am not being paid enough by Porsche to be part of their R&D.
