You seem to be assume everybody with a Taycan bought it on a lease.
I paid for mine and if I still like it by the end of the warranty I'll probably buy an extended warranty since Porsche spares and labour times are so excessive.

You should add to the poll an option for an owned car and purchasing an extended warranty.

At 40k miles on my owned 2020 4S+ I've purchased a Porsche extended warranty to 8 years to align with the HV battery warranty. I'll keep the "classic" and upgrade at the 7-year date when better battery technology will be available, and a NACS plug. Ideally with a generation 2 Taycan.

Correct, which answer should I pick when I just extend the warranty periode with 3 years after this is finished?
Not everybody leases his car, I bought the car private...

At around the 3 year mark it will be time to start the search for a replacement for my 2023. My, strictly personal, replacement time pretty much corresponds to the expiration of the basic warranty. I've had no issues with my car that would preclude another Porsche but technology on the EV side of the car needs to progress significantly. PCM needs to improve, efficiency/range needs to improve, OTA updates need to become a real thing, connecting to the house WiFi needs to be enabled,... and the big one is NACS accessibility (since a dramatic improvement in and expansion of EA seems unlikely). The car is certainly no bargain and to justify this kind of expenditure again it needs to improve. Yeah, I know it "drives" very well but it is not a great EV. Love my car but expect a lot more in order to do another one.

• Put on "the list" in 2018, I ordered it in 2019, and after a pandemic delay in the paint shop it was delivered in August of 2020. A 2020 4S with performance battery. The 2020's in the US came with 8 years and 100k on the HV battery.
• For the Porsche warranty, you need to purchase it before the existing warranty expires. The 2020's in the US have a 4 year / 50k mile basic warranty, so it doesn't go into effect until that expires. I wanted to secure it before I went over the mileage allocation, they changed terms, or price.
• My dealership never got back to me after repeated attempts over several months, and the other local dealership said that Porsche didn't offer extended warranties on a Taycan. (In error.) Porsche Chandler in Arizona was recommended and that's where I purchased a Porsche Platinum with a $250 deductible. 8 years, 100,000 miles at that time for $6k. I figured I would burn that up with a heater, PCM, or motor replacement easily and it would be good for resale. Doesn't cover the HV battery, as that is under the existing warranty. You can shop any Porsche dealer for it.
• I was quoted other insurance company warranties by one dealer but wanted the Porsche warranty. Hopefully less hassle at a Porsche dealer. I suspect a dealer would make more money on the non-Porsche warranty.
• Advice would be to shop the price. After months of hassle, I was glad I found a highly professional dealer with what I felt was a fair price.
• You may not need it, but if you plan on keeping it, you'll sleep better! I do!

Hoping a RHD Model S will be available in a couple of years. Steer-by-wire, throttle-by-wire and brakes-by-wire, all on 48V should make moving controls easy. . . .

Doubt I'll go ever back to ICE. I'm really interested in the EV Cayman. I prefer two door sports cars. That being said, my family of 4 probably won't enjoy being thrown in the trunk, but it should fit two kids or one wife, right?

If it's not feasible, will probably see what the market is like, if nothing tops the Taycan, I may go for a 2nd gen one!

Same. It does rather feel like you're just crystallising a loss and putting yourself into the steepest part of the depreciation curve when you buy a new one at year 3.

Smartest trade is probably buying a 2 year old one at a deep discount and holding it for another 4 or 5 years.

Dumbest (financial) trade is buying a new one in the first place. Guilty (though there weren't any second hand ones around then - that's my excuse)!
