Not my taste, but I'm sure someone out there would pay something for it. Some people just love to make noise. Probably the same people who as kids put playing cards in their wheel spokes.

PS> For people who love noise, why not blast it inside the car, via driver's side headrest-mounted speakers, instead of imposing it onto others? With headphones, you could blast your ears off while your passengers can enjoy the silence.

I put playing cards on the rotor and listen to them click against the stator windings.

And theyโ€™re Porsche Design playing cards, so no, itโ€™s not tacky.

I honestly think it's obnoxious.
The quiet power of the Taycan is one of the coolest aspects of the car.
Bit if you dig the sound, please do it where it will not disturb other people's peace.

It came standard with our BMW iX M60. We have used it three times since we had the car. Once to listen to it ourselves (never again we said), then for the โ€œfamily first ride,โ€ and lastly for a friend who had read about it and asked for in his first ride.

No one of the three groups has ever asked for it since. True the Porsche sound is IMO better, but the BMWโ€˜s created by Hans Zimmer โ€” so not bad.

We are not clicking the โ€œPorsche Soundโ€ on this order (but of course not saving that $500 because it freed up money for two other options).

If it sounded like our C8 Z flat plane crank at 8,600 RPM, fake or not, we would be spending the $500 lol; instead we will greatly enjoy our Porsche EV without Porsche Sound.

The joy of the quiet and comfort is all you need. Buy an rs6 if you want noise

While it feels a bit silly to have "fake" engine noise, its chief function isn't to entertain the occupants. The sound can be heard outside the car and serves to warn pedestrians glued to their smartphones (perhaps reading TaycanForum) that there is a car approaching and that they may want to stop ambling down the middle of the parking aisle, oblivious to the driver trying to get by and park.

One of the several benefits of an electric motor over an IC engine is how much quieter it is, so no from me.

I tried the Porsche sound on demo, switched it off after a minute or two and didnโ€™t spec it on my build and have not missed it once.

Only a very few IC engines sound good IMO.

Not for me, I am in love with the overall silence that comes with my Taycans.
