@Sidicks, I also feel your pain. I had a very similar experience last year. Ran the left front through a pothole full of water in a shady spot; virtually invisible. The tire began to lose air immediately and I limped to a nearby parking lot where the auto club (AAA) flat-bedded me home. I removed the Mission E wheel (fortunately undamaged except for an inconsequential nick on the inside edge of the rim) and took it in to the dealership. The Porsche tire/wheel warranty I purchased handled everything and for whatever reason they never even charged me the $50 deductible.

You do have to be really careful with these ultra-low profile tires. I trust that by now everything is back to normal for you.

Good luck with the council.

I've had no joy on 3 separate occasions now, with fairly aggressive "so sue us" responses. Being time poor, I opted out of that (which I think is mainly what they rely on now, hence the shitty style of response).

More recently, however, the sheer lack of attention to the roads means I get one more incident and I'll accept that gauntlet being thrown down.

Tally so far:

1x Maserati GT wheel and tyre - £1,600
1x Volvo wheel and tyre - £1,000
1x Taycan tyre - £300

Some of the roads round here are like war torn 3rd world roads. They're an absolute disgrace.
I think small claims route is fairly painless to instigate. For the sake of £50 it might get them to cough up and avoid actually proceeding anything legal.

Not in my experience. But will be interested to see how others get on.

One had a huge hole in the sidewall, the other had a huge bulge in the sidewall - no doubt they both needed to be replaced - Pirelli P Zero EV
That was at Porsche?

This sort of thing really irritates me. You can get these tyres fitted for around £370 each or less elsewhere. That's retail, with two companies involved so profit available... And yet Porsche feel the need for an extra £65 profit each for 15mins work.

Used to get similar gouging on oil costs from places like Porsche and Audi. I used to save well over £200 by supplying the exact same oil that they would use, bought in small retail packs. It's an utter piss take.

I can rationalise it when there are special skills/knowledge/tools needed. But tyres, oil, washer fluid...

/rant over ?

On the way home from work today I ran into/over a pothole - the (nearside rear) tyre immediately deflated due to a huge gash in the side. I had to drive a few hundred metres to get off the main road, so I hope the alloy isn’t damaged.

Porsche assist were pretty good and got a recovery truck to me inside 90mins which I thought was pretty good. Fortunately Tonbridge Porsche were very accommodating and we managed to get there before they closed at 6pm.

Just waiting to see if it’s just a new tyre or also a new alloy that is needed. Tyres have done 4,500 miles so I guess there is also the dilemma whether I need to get one tyre or two, to ensure they are evenly worn in the rear.
That's really bad luck and hope it is only a tyre or tyre + rim.

Remember there was a forum member who did something similar at low speed on his 2 week old car which on closer inspection had damaged the rear suspension / chassis - £20K later (I know) it was repaired whereupon he then sold the car and replaced with a non-Taycan.

I took out (negotiated as part of car purchase) wheel and tyre insurance which I hope never to use but the cost to me was around the price of a replacement tyre so well worth the "investment".

Porsche tyre / wheel insurance was a bargain. So much so that they discontinued it, and rolled it into some other bundle.

Didn't realise it was dealer specific.
When we ordered, the wheel / tyre insurance was still available. When it came to delivery a year later, it had been withdrawn. Would have been a no-brainer otherwise!

Which I think varies between dealerships (or the groups to which they belong). My current dealership offers different products and providers than my previous one.
I wasn’t offered anything when I collected the car, but I had intended to take something out and had been looking at third party product providers. I just forgot :swear:

It hadn’t got any visible damage to chassis and suspension but Porsche insisted on a wide range of other components to be changed, just in case, because of the damage to a wheel. That is why he sold.

I do sympathise, on the racing cars we did change quite a few bits after an accident just in case but then put them in NDT back at the factory and put anything that was actually still in spec back into circulation.
You can’t do that if Porsche stick to that policy.

Sounds like Porsche dealer dumpster diving could be a profitable venture.

Yes, I was concerned about that, but the wheel seemed fine and no warning messages, so the Porsche garage just fitted the new tyres.
