The 2025 4S that I ordered is off the boat and should be delivered soon. Checking to see if others in a similar position have been able to get any discount from MSRP in light of price cutting on other EVs.

When did you place your order?

Mine just went in and won't expect it until Dec/Jan. At MSRP, no discounts.

When it is a pre-order I'm not aware of anyone renegotiating the MSRP, nor would I suspect the dealer is prepared to do so.

That said, you can always try, but be ready to play the "I'm willing to walk away and (perhaps) lose my deposit" card. You would have to start a face-to-face conversation that goes like this --
  • (You) I'm not sure this is the right time for me to be purchasing this car. While I love the spec, I'm seeing prices begin to drop, and I really don't need the car at the moment.
  • (Sales) But you have a deposit on the car. You should take it, you'll love it!
  • (You) Well, that deposit was placed months ago and things have changed. I'm feeling the car is overpriced, and I'm thinking of looking elsewhere. The Rivian R1S is interesting to me, and I'm also thinking maybe a plug-in-hybrid from BMW. I should probably check these out.
  • (Sales) We've sold many Taycans at List/MSRP and the price will not be going down anytime soon.
  • (You) That's OK with me. I think I'll hold off until I can find something with probably a $10k-$15k lower price point.
  • (You - start walking away)
  • <At this point you're probably not going to get a "Wait!" from the Sales person, and assuming you don't, before you exit the door, turn and say this>. (You) You know, I'll think about it some more. If there is something you can do on your end to help me get this car at a lower price let me know - that might make a difference.
Some area of negotiation might also be the "Wheel & Tire" insurance (normally $2,500 or so for 4 years), or something else.

Honestly, I doubt that for a refreshed MY at the start of ordering you'll be able to move the needle on the price, but who knows? Perhaps the dealer is having some problems and really needs to move cars. They also tend to be more flexible at the end of the month, and particularly the end of a Quarter (which you just missed).

In the end, only buy the car if you want to drive the best EV around, and are OK not worrying about the depreciation. I love my 2021 4s and paid MSRP, and have absolutely no regrets ?

Good Luck!

I got the following quotes today on a new CT 4S:
- guaranteed resale value after 3y: 48.6% of new list price, 60kkm total
- guaranteed resale value after 4y: 42.3% of new list price, 80kkm total

The mileage allotment appears decent but guaranteed value stingy ?

0% discount on list price, thus far they have refused to even consider my custom order for lack of a build slot.

I have never leased cars before, but for a new Taycan in my 'home' market, i think i'd be crazy not to ?

(perhaps) lose my deposit"
If OP's profile location is accurate, I don't think that would be a concern. CA Vehicle Code 11736 says that dealers must return all deposits upon demand by the purchaser as long as the transaction has not completed, including the purchaser taking delivery of the car.

Lack of a build slot?

They are reducing the shifts because order entry is low for the Taycan.

Active ride is an issue because it's currently not available and causes delays.

Yes, they are refusing my order and cannot articulate when they will have a production slot. Indefinite wait with the outlook that the earliest they could possibly deliver is March 25. Same feedback from two dealerships. Very odd.

I was finding the 48.6%/3y 42.3%/4y orsche resale value guarantee stingy, but BMW is at 38.6% on i4 M50 after 3y only ! So Taycan is not the abysmal depreciation disaster people claim.

I just heard back from a dealer today basically no discount price at msrp and no clear eta. Pretty stupid. Luckily I wasn’t super motivated and this just keeps me happier with my MY20.

At least in the US, I don’t really believe this. You are negotiating too early I suspect.

The wave of cookie-cutter launch vehicles hasn’t yet arrived, and what may turn out to be lackluster buyer interest in list price Taycans has yet to become apparent. I suspect that after the launch vehicles sit around for a while, it may be possible to get a discount on a custom order allocation, if you can ever get one in the face of a lot of unsold Taycans and slowed production.

Could be pretty stupid by the dealer ... or could be pretty smart.
The one thing for certain is that the dealer is not taking the certain path, i.e., easy sale to you at some modest discount.
Instead the dealer is taking the less certain path of either you capitulating at MSRP or some other buyer biting at MSRP.
We'll never know for sure, since we never know for sure the final selling price.

I was just at a SoCal dealer, said they have no orders for the 2025 Taycans, they are already at the port and are suppose to be delivered by the end of the month. Said there could be a stop sale

Last month I was browsing CT at Porsche riverside, they said they will have 2025 model here by July, which they did I think. Got an email from them saying 25 models are in stock now
