Hi Everyone,

I’m an owner of a CPO 2020 Taycan 4S, and I was provided the attached disc brake details for the front and rear. I was wondering if any of these numbers would warrant a replacement of the rotors and brake pads?
I have the PSCB.

thank you.

That's a lot left. Ask your dealer what the minimum thickness is for PSCBs. It'll take about 70k miles to wear it down Typically the tungsten carbide coating will degrade first (lose the mirror shine).

I believe the pads are a 6 year replacement item irrespective of wear

Depends on the dealer.

You can ask for them to be measure, and if they have enough material, they will put it as done and not force you to change them.
And even if they insist/threaten with warranty cancellation, you are legally allowed to change them by yourself or at a 3rd party shop.

I am not following what is the issue and who is making it an issue.

Taycan does not call for brake rotor replacements ever.
Taycan only calls for brake pads to be replaced at a 6-year mark due to age and not wear.
Taycan with PSCBs can develop cracks and carbide layer peeling due to low use with many cases on the forum fighting it to be covered under warranty. Therefore, every chance I get on startup, I try to make sure the pads hit the rotors really good to at least get one good go around to prevent cracking and peeling.

My Cayenne Turbo with PSCBs at 60k and 6 years of heavy use never called for brake or rotor replacement with rotors super shiny with no signs of carbide coating cracking or wear since it is used and polished all the time. As you can see, it is reflecting like a perfect mirror.

I have a 2020 4S with PSCB brakes and about 45k miles.
My rotors are showing what appear to be rust streaks, and the Porsche tech has indicated that at the end of 6 years, in September, I will need to replace pads and rotors....big $$$$
I am not aware of an recalls or QC issues but would love to find some.

Highly doubt, at that point the surface would already be peeling off and they wouldn't let you drive off the lot without cancelling your warranty.

And any rust on the non-coated iron parts will fall under brake use, due to temperature.

Pad material transfer is normal, so seeing some smudge on it is normal.

I wonder if you could take some pictures. If you have rust on the carbide coated brake rotor surface then you are in the carbide coating cracking/peeling camp as others experienced. I am closely monitoring mine and so far I do see some fine lines as cracks but no peeling of flaking. I would put up a big fight if I am faced with rotor replacement ever.

Not the best picture, but from it, I am looking good, so to keep it that way, I have to be mindful to do the breaking every chance I get.
