Retrofit Compass?

So here a few pics.

I have the Taycan compass.
No further info, whether a Cayenne or Panamera would fit.

The swap itself is super easy, The clock is released/ fitted with a 1/4 turn from the backside.
Connection is made with a small plug.

I am waiting for an answer concerning programming needed or not.

Can anybody with compass installed confirm the following:
In the PCM menu, it is referred to as "clock", not compass.

You found and purchased the compass as pre-owned correct? Do you recall the part number for the compass that you purchased?

oof! that's tricky. I can clearly see 9j0919107 which is the prefix for the compass. In searching dealership parts stores, I cannot tell if the final 4 characters (for example M6N3) indicates the face plate color or the car model:

Also confusing is on the part itself it doesn't list the final 4 character. Here's a part I found on ebay that came off a 2021 Cayenne.

In any case, it's good to know it's likely plug and play with no coding. This gives me confidence to either take a chance and buy any compass with prefix 9j0919107, or just buy a new compass from the dealer for the Taycan. Used parts at at least 50% the cost of a new part, so do let us know if coding was necessary.

Question, where did you read that the reverse has worked? Do you know if a Cayenne part from the same generation would work in your situation?

I wouldn't want to have a non-Taycan part on my dashboard.

unsure how important, but you definitely took a chance by not verifying it came from a Taycan. The faceplate appearance and fitment should be the same across all models, but unsure if Porsche has unique software for each model type. This is why VAG has invested into Rivian's technology to solve the underlying issue to ensure vehicle components and software are uniformly built across all model ranges.

General guidance is for plug and play, ideally it should come from the same vehicle model, and if you have the ability to code, then at least it needs to come from the same generation. I'm going to pass on the Cayenne part on ebay and await your confirmation that the dealer indeed did not code for the part. The Taycan specific compass is on a slight discount, in the US it's listed for $700 at dealer sites with an MSRP of $900.

That's a very good plan!

Mine was/ is definitely the Taycan part, as it came with the inlay from the dashboard.
It's even the same production month like my Taycan.

Does it work? Porsche told me that too yet Rennlist thread indicates otherwise.

Shows altitude and degrees digitally and the compass turns.

One (maybe) flaw:
PCM shows the compass as clock.

can anybody with a "native" compass post a picture of his PCM screen concerning the compass?

The settings for the instrument can be found in the display-menu bottom.

Mine just refers to it as "additional instrument" or something like that.
