Sorry this happened to you...I know it sucks.

I learned long ago to PPF every car I buy, as soon as possible...and it's still sometimes not enough, as rocks can pierce the film.

There's really no way to prevent it other than not driving the car.
You can try to keep a lengthy following distance (especially at higher speeds) but at the end of the day entropy always wins.

I've heard really good reviews of "Dr. Colorchip" for blending repairs of this sort. Maybe that + PPF.
Some PPF shops might be able to do the touchup for you.

I have PPF on my car and a few chips in the film itself, one looks pretty close to making it all the way through. Not something that can be helped unfortunately. Driving any car give you opportunities for rock chips. If you do go for PPF it will be thicker than a color wrap. The difference is 8-10mm compared to <5mm.

Also, just be aware, it's not 100% protection, rock chip can still occur. My plan was to fix any chips that do make when it comes time to replace the film. I'd probably just do the front instead of the whole car in the future.

Yep I got one on my Dolomite silver bonnet about 5" above the badge. I have touched it in with touch up paint, it took about 5 applications applying a tiny amount each time and using the corner of a piece of kitchen paper as blotting paper when I applied too much and a self levelling spray to help it flow into the chip as it starts to set, bonnet propped so chip is in the horizontal plane. Then a polish with a very fine finishing polish which I bought to polish the black high gloss panel on the passenger side dash.

Not a 100% but it now takes me a minute to find the chip when looking for it.

Even though it's not a guaranteed solution I also highly recommend PPF. Especially if your car is a daily driver or if you live in areas where the roads tend to have a lot of loose debris on them.

As far as Dr. Colorchip goes, I've used it on a black 2013 Tacoma and a gray 2017 Jeep and I was impressed with the results. It did take a few applications to fill in the deeper chips but in both cases I was able to repair the chips well enough that you had to be right on top of them and looking for them to see them. Neither of those vehicles have metallic paint though.

Welcome to owning a Porsche. My first was a pre-owned 1992 911................black. Waxing it made the 100+ chips stand out prominently. Almost looked like someone sprinkled a salt shaker over the front. They were not as big as yours but rather about the size of a pin head and smaller. Way, way too many to try and fix and I was not going to get the hood painted as it would be quickly peppered again, so I just learned to live with them and accept them as part of Porsche ownership. Fast forward to today. 2021 Taycan 4S with 13,000+ miles. There is one large chip/scratch from a sizable rock. I kept thinking about getting it repaired and decided against it as I fully expect more chips since I do take my car out of the garage..........

I would say if it really really bothers you get it fixed, but know that more road debris is just down the road..... I have said it before on this forum...........think about when Ferdinand Porsche built those early 356s with little concern about paint chips and imperfections. He built driver's cars where dents and dings were just part of the driving experience.

I’ve never PPFd my cars and I’ve always said I get one small nick every 10k miles. Like clockwork, at 10,500 miles I got my first nick. Small, but strangely deep. I’ll wait until I have 30k miles and a few more and then get them all touched up.
