Successfull Tesla Supercharger Plug and Charge

First time charging at a Tesla Supercharger. I was impressed how easy it was. No app, just picked up the Tesla cable, inserted my Porsche NACS to CCS adapter and plugged it to the car.

After about 20 seconds the charge started. I do have the optional On-board 150kW / 400V DC charger and I saw 130 kW at 45% SOC. Price was ok at 43 cts / kWh. I didn't really need to charge at a Tesla Supercharger but I wanted to see if it worked in case I need it in the future.

If you did not use an app, how was the session paid for?...I presume this was plug n charge - but that had to be setup beforehand? what year is your car?

Tried this last month and it worked for me too. 2024 is my MY.

If you are doing a road trip it's best to use the app and not do plug n charge. With the app you buy the membership for a month and get the member pricing for charging. After a couple charging sessions you pay for the $12 membership fee. You can cancel the membership and just have it for 30 days. I do this for road trips with my Rivian.

No, you don't have to do anything. However I don't think all Tesla Superchargers are Plug and Charge compatible with the Taycan. You can filter in the Porsche app under Charging / Map.

The latest OTA update that nerfed your 11kW OBC speed also sent out Plug and Charge capabilities for J1.1 vehicles.

are you sure? earlier today i tried a MY25 J1.2 on a full V4 Supercharger (470KW) that just opened here last week and plug and charge didn't work.
from my understanding it would work on MY25/6 Macan EV, Cayenne EV and Taycan MY26, where did you see that J1.1 is included via the OTA?

Yep, it was part of the WSS4 update.

I don’t know if all Tesla supercharger stations are open to plug and charge for Taycan but the one I’ve tried worked. Here’s the invoice.

you can see them on your MyPorsche App. Go to the map and filter using Tesla Supercharger and Plug and Charge.

Make sure you turn off Tesla Supercharger and turn on Plug and Charge. If you don’t turn off Tesla Supercharger it will give you all the stations regardless whether they accept it or not.
