Hi.. new here, 2021 Taycan 4s 24000km mostly city driving. I have issues with rather loud brake noise consistently, happens when braking from 40-50km and when close to complete stop. While I love my Taycan and been lucky not having other issues this noise is really annoying. Clearly I spoke to Porsche and they told me to brake hard couple of times which I did and no help. Anyone has similar issues and solutions ?? Thank you so much .

mine are silent, a few high speed brakes to standstill normally clears any minor noise

Please let us know what breaks you have and confirm that in fact you are using physical brakes as they only engage at low speeds and when the car has not been driven overnight for example (cleaning mode). Most likely you have PSCBs and they are known to make noise but under certain conditions. Also, take a picture of your rotors as PSCB rotors are known to develop cracks and chip on Taycan due to low use.

Thank you for your reply, attached Pic of my P surface coated brakes. I have been using Auto recuperation but just tried turning it off hoping it will use the brakes more i was told. All rotor looks about the same, no rust, scratches....
Funny when Porsche told me ( not sure if i trust 100% ) could be also due to brakes were wet, the fact is the opposite. I found when brakes are wet ( after wash or rain ) there are almost 80% reduction of braking noise.

I had light grinding noise that could be felt through the brake pedal when the mechanical brakes kicked in (or done purposely when putting the car in neutral). Got the rotors and brake pads replaced with the updated part number. Noise is gone.

I believe there a TSB for this.

@Yyzgoodmike
Have you checked the inner brake disc surface?
On one of my 8 disc surfaces - inner left rear - the coating has delaminated. All other surfaces are fine. Currently in a long running warranty dispute - Porsche claim this is normal wear and tear rather than a manufacturing defect.

PSCB brake discs are sold at 4/5 times more than the cost of standard brake discs, on the basis of superior longevity:
  • ‘Hard like Diamond’
  • ‘it doesn’t rust’
  • ‘Tungsten and carbon formed a mixed crystal so hard it can be used to cut glass’
  • ’Tungsten carbide is one of the hardest materials in the world after diamond, and around 10 times harder than gray cast iron’
  • ’once coated, your rotor is thoroughly armoured’
  • ’the tungsten carbide discs have a service life 30 per cent longer than their gray-iron counterparts’
  • ’this tungsten-carbide coating sprayed onto iron-cast rotors hardens them fivefold, guaranteeing world class stopping power and even adding a year or two to the lifespan of your rotors’
  • ’ordinary cast-iron rotors are extremely tough, but PSCB technology takes durability to a whole new level’
  • ’PSCB brakes last thirty per cent longer than uncoated iron rotors. This amounts to considerable cost savings over the lifespan of your Porsche’
Either all of the claims above are false, or there is a manufacturing defect.

None of the above claims says they will not delaminate. ;)

On a more serious note, it's sad that Porsche would even attempt to fight a warranty claim. My car started making noise from time to time, especially when starting to drive. I will take a look a inside rotor surface in about a month when I'm putting on the summer tires (on all-seasons for now).

My car started making noise from time to time, especially when starting to drive.
According to my dealer, this is normal; as its doing a brake disc "cleaning" procedure; where the calipers are closed just enough to remove debris from the disc but not closed enough to stop you from moving.

Mine screech a bunch every time i start the car for the first time that day, and keep screeching for 5-10 mins after; and then it stops for the whole day

I thought "cleaning" meant no regen for the first mile or two of driving. I never heard of a cleaning procedure closing the calipers while driving without the brake pedal being pressed. It might be consistent with the fact that sometimes I hear the squealing without the brake pedal being pressed. I tried some hard braking, no help. Perhaps I need to try to real hard braking from say 60mph all the way to zero while standing on the brake pedal.

That's the info i was given, and it does translate with when the screeching actually happens on my car.
Maybe someone else that can reach to their dealer can clarify more.

My brakes make a godawful noise when driven in heavy rain. Probably due to a 'buildup' of crap (technical term) on the brake discs. Running through the procedure below solves the noise problem for me. If this procedure doesn't do anything, then you have another problem.

I would expand on the 'brake a few hard times'. This involves running the car to a high speed and engaging antilock fully until you've ALMOST stopped. (Obviously find a safe place to do this). Do not stop and keep your pads engaged - this can damage hot brakes. Repeat this cycle three or more times - if you can smell the brakes, then you've done it correctly.

Thanks mine seemed to be just noise, high pitch squealing without any physical vibration through pedals. But good to know thst there
@mystermykee - are your brakes PSCB?
YES i have attached pic above
