I took ownership of my Taycan Base 12/23/22.
I've had numerous problems with the car since day One, none of which have been resolved. To date, the car has been in two Porsche dealers for service over 30 days of my 3-month ownership to resolve the issues - and so far nothing has been solved. This week they said they needed to keep the car another two weeks. They have NO IDEA how to fix the problems. I have established a case number with Porsche US, as well as filed a claim in the State of Maryland on lemon laws.

My local Porsche dealer I purchased the car from said the problems/issues with the Taycan's have markedly increased. I am scratching my head trying to understand why I paid $120k for a car that is laden with problems.

Is this an isolated incident, and I just have a bad production car? Kind of a shit show. I've had MB's, Audi's and RR's - but never experienced anything like this. I thought Porsche was the gold standard.

Has anyone experienced this, or am I an outlier?

Sorry to read of your car's issues. What specific problems does it have?

Charging, which malfunctions consistently, and a loud noise (buzzing) emanating from the car inside and out that no one can figure out. They thought it was a valve associated with A/C, but that wasn't it.

If you're charging using Porsche's charger, that's an easy fix - it's junk, get a Wallbox.

If the "buzzing" is timed with flashes on your keyfob, it's not a problem.

Why do people assume Porsche is the ‘gold standard’ for reliability? I’ve owned Porsches for over 30 years and they’ve never been known for high reliability. They’ve always made the classic trade off of sacrificing some reliability for performance. Exploding synchros, IMS failures, grenading motors, etc. And don’t even get started listing the problems with Cayennes over the last 20 years. It sucks if you got a total lemon, but anyone who is expecting an entirely problem free car should probably buy a Toyota rather than a Porsche. And skip new models built on entirely new platforms.

Derek -

When you say get a wall charger, you mean the charger that comes with the car is junk?

I've installed a ChargePoint, recommended by the dealer- it was expensive $2600. including install. My charging timer doesn't work. Thinking of paying for the $1600 Porsche wall charger. Maybe it integrates better? I have no F'in idea. Disappointing there is no guidance from Porsche.

I talk to Porsche and they blame the Chargepoint - I talk to Charge Point and they blame the car.

Yes, the charger that comes with the car is junk. You have a ChargePoint so you're ahead of the game there. Don't bother with Porsche's unit.

When you say the "charge timer doesn't work" can you be more specific?
Porsche's profile/timer system is dumb and confusing, and easy to misunderstand.

But at the end of the day the timer is a software thing and almost certainly out of the dealership's realm to fix.

I have had no issues with the charger that comes with the car, in fact I was planning to buy a third party charger and only use the Porsche charger, as I had it, for the first few days...however, it works perfectly and I will keep using it!

Don't buy the Porsche charger. We have a chargpoint and have no issues using the timers. Also set the charge point to start charging only during the low cost period (we are on BGE). Car will show an error when the charger is connected but once the low cost time period starts the car and charger sync and start charging.

I said the same thing, until it started to overheat after a year.

After reading this thread and I'm still unclear on what issues you are dealing with, especially what issues have caused you to have the car in service for 30 days. You mention a loud buzzing - is that the problem you're dealing with? When does it happen and does it go away at some point? Anything else?

Establishing a charging protocol is less obvious than it should be. I found this video to be very helpful when I was first learning the basics. Give it a look and let me know if this resolves anything for you. As @DerekS has already stated, your ChargePoint will work great with the Taycan and much better than the PMCC that is offered. Please don't buy that!

Some here. Charger is fine. In the US a cable might get a bit warm... I will also keep the charger...

Do you only have charging problems at home ? Or also elsewhere ?
If it is only at home: check your voltage.
Or try to charge at 50%.
The Taycan stops charging if the voltage gets too low and gives a charging error without additional info.
In some locations the grid voltage can fluctuate.

I've had my Taycan almost 4 months now and no problems at all.
It was one of the cars held up in storage for 4 months waiting for a 12V battery too, so no worries there either IMO.

Over the last decades I have owned Toyota, Mercedes, Ferrari and, for a short time, BMW and with the exception of a failed hydraulic actuator in the folding hood (roof) mechanism of a M-B 500SL have had no reliability problems.

Stories on here have been scary but so far so good for me at least ?
