Taycan Sales Declining

I am not concerned by sales myself, I have my car.

I do think the lack of investment in infrastructure here in the UK has left many people disappointed in their new EV experience, particularly those who didn’t look into the differences much before purchase, and that may be the majority.

It has left people susceptible to the propaganda too IME.

I’d definitely agree that the UK public EV charging infrastructure is not acceptable in its current state. Many of the rapid chargers are old and lamp post chargers in London often unreliable.

Owning and regularly using an EV is easy if you have your domestic charger, but as mentioned that is not an options for many.

On a related note, Uber will apparently make it mandatory by 2025 for ALL its UK drivers and across the booking categories to use EVs - and are trying to accelerate this transition through a rent-to-buy program. Am curious how the current UK infrastructure will manage though.

Been a very happy customer of Tesla since July 2019 when received my Model 3 LR. Done over 55k miles and still very happy. I remember collecting the car from Heathrow Tesla the same day Robert Llewellyn from Fully Charged was also there picking up his car. There were hardly any Model 3s in UK roads at that time.

Now? every other car seems to be a Model 3 or Model Y.
Can not wait for my own Taycan GTS to arrive (expected to pick it up next week)...

Sales down on Taycan? really do hope so.

Well, hundred percent sure one factor in the low volume of allocation for Q3/4 2023 Model year is the Margin is too low. No business would sell today if you can sell at a higher price tomorrow. I just hope that they catch up and ship mine as soon as it's built.

Yeah, sucks that the wait time for a 911 is multi years longer than the Taycan. But i probably wouldn't have looked at a 911 if there is no EV. unless i am guaranteed no horror story about engines and stuff, the worst offender seems to be Range Rovers, like, i will NOT buy a regular range rover, EV, may be. Non-EV, highly likely, i would get a Lexus, maybe a Mercedes.

I have been waiting 10 months to get a Turbo allocation. At least in pockets there seems to be demand that Porsche cannot fill for whatever reason.

The dealer near me, where I bought mine has a turbo they can’t unload. I believe the color is called chalk so if that’s something you’re looking for you should look into it.

I think EVs have come close to saturation for the time being. Just looking at people I know, most who want one have got one.

The remainder mostly fall into a few distinct camps;
1. EVs are too expensive.
2. They are too old to embrace the technology and are frightened of change.
3. They are old school petrol heads who dislike EVs (probs a bit of no. 1 in this group).
4. They aren't into cars and will just drive what they've got.
5. They have no home charging option (flats/Terrace).

I can't see any of this lot jumping to buy an EV any time soon.

I enjoyed driving one of the only Taycans in the area for the first year. Now, I can't park in a lot without seeing another one. Part of me welcomes the slowdown, since it postpones the inevitable arrival of the time when my Taycan will be as common a sight as a Cayenne (which are EVERYWHERE here).

Yeah but this is the exclusivity that I love to have because it’s a car that I get tons of compliments on. Now if they’re starting to appear on every block like a Tesla then it’s not so special anymore.

Personally I'm not a fan of exclusivity. To me it means long waits to get the product (took me 20 months to get one), long waits for parts if you need them, smaller development budgets for things like software, etc. If you are after exclusivity, try to find yourself a Fisker Karma. It looks exotic, so will probably get more attention, and is more exclusive than a Taycan (they haven't sold many and don't make them anymore).

I am perfectly fine continuing to drive the only Frozen Berry Taycan for miles and miles and making new friends every time I park it. The high just never seems to wear off. Sorry for whoever is missing out!
