My '22 4sis in the shop for an airbag system error. 😕.
They have a base Macan as a loaner and I have to say, what a let down. The center screen is about the same size as the TAycan's, but CarPlay is presented in a tiny window that makes hitting icons a crap shoot. Slow, noisy, slow throttle response. It doesn't even sound good. How does Porsche sell so many of these things???
Just one person's opinion, but I want my Taycan back ASAP.

Had the same with a Macan GTS loaner. Although I think actually a decent proportion of it is the electric element. ‘Normal’ ICE cars just feel outdated, slow and just plain old fashioned.

It doesn’t feel like that when I get in the 911, which is an absolute delight to drive. But in general ICE cars feel like relics for the day to day…

If it was just a DTC error code, you could have easily reset it with a ENET cable and kept your car… I had the code appear after soundproofing my front doors where I unplugged airbag sensors for better access.

Just heard back from the dealership - it's a bad crash sensor...Fortunately for me it'll only be a few days to get it replaced...

Not so fast to bash the product that finances the rest of the lineup. Not for everyone, but it has its place, so that is why they sell a ton of Base. Then you have to pay a hacker to enable full screen CarPlay and AA and it looks crips and colorful. However, I have perfectly configured 2023 Macan GTS with COBB and RoarPedal and it is more fun than those 911s you are talking that make a lot of noise and not much go in city driving. It is not a Taycan and should not be compared to but the character is there and with GTS having Sport Sound standard it makes a great sound like it means business and it is the best of its kind, not for nothing! The trick is to spend the most money and then spend more on COBB/RoarPedal, Full Screen enable, and then you have what it needs to be and it looks amazing on the road as it does not copy all the nonsense recent designs with gimmicky lines and cut outs.

However, I agree, the loaners look underwhelming and not fun to drive.

When I had my Cayenne hybrid, my service loaner was a Cayman T. I was so disinterested in it that I'm not even sure it wasn't a Boxster T. I couldn't wait to get back in the Cayenne with its superior practicality, comfort and silence in urban driving. They were totally different tools and only fair to assess them in the use case they were optimised for. I enjoy (hired) Caymans for trackdays.

I’ve been in three different Macans over the past three months while my Taycan has been in for battery module replacements. One was a base EV, one a fully loaded 4S EV, and one an ICE S.

Of the three, the 4S EV stood out, I really enjoyed driving it. I wouldn’t trade my Taycan for it, but I would certainly consider adding a Macan 4S EV to the stable. The ICE version, though, I have to agree with others here: it feels sluggish, dated in both look and feel, and just isn’t enjoyable to drive compared to the EVs.

Well spoken. When I drive my wife's Lexus RX 450h I feel like I've gone back in time --- and I hate it...

I had a macan ev as a loaner and even that didn't feel great like the taycan does!

I was shocked (in a bad way) when I got my base Macan loaner.
Couldn't believe how bad it was.

The lag when you put your foot down actually made me laugh out loud, it was awful.
I felt it could actually be dangerous for anyone coming from a Taycan.

It reminded me of driving hire cars I had in the 1980s.

That's what I thought when I got my old Panamera back after driving a Taycan Turbo loan car - and it was a Turbo-S, too.
