Sorry to hear about the damage sustained to your Taycan. I would consider taking the vehicle to a certified Porsche body shop to obtain an estimate on the cost breakdown for specific parts and labor involved as well as the cost differential between the Porsche and independent body shop. Doing so will also provide a better understanding of the scope of work involved, especially when it comes to the roof. Thereafter, you have the option to decide whether to use an independent body shop to do all or a portion of the work if the roof and headliner replacement process proves more intricate.

where do you get 10k from?

Replacement wings are 500GBP, new glass for the panoramic is 1,200GBP.

as the post said, my local garage are not sure about replacing the glass due to the tech under the headliner so I came here for advice not condemnation.

my 2 questions were has anyone experience removing the headliner, any thoughts on replacing the front wing versus sending it to the bodyshop.

How it became 10k & why I am suddenly the enemy for not wanting to send it to Porsche to rip me off before looking at alternative solutions I have no idea. Hence why I came to this forum. If I wanted minimum hassle i would have avoided the forum and just dropped it straight at Porsche with my trousers down ready to assume the position.
Nobody's making you the enemy other than yourself.

You've shown no pictures of the damage.

A decent front end respray would be a good couple of k at places I trust that aren't Porsche dealers.

I am pretty sure the estimates for std Pano roof replacement are around the 6k mark, maybe more. No idea what that would cost at a non-Porsche dealer irrespective of the part cost....but as your experience is showing, that's probably moot.

Even if the cost ends up half of what I'm guesstimating, what sort of excess and policy cost do you have that would make it less sensible than to claim and get the job done properly?

You ask for advice on an open forum. You're getting it.

Don't know how it works on your side of the pond, but in the US Porsche will not sell certain parts to anything but a Certified Porsche Collision Center. If you would post an image of the damage, it would help to offer some guidance. Without images everyone (including myself) is just guessing.

It sounds like the insurance are not willing to play ball and so you are looking for a cost effective way to sort yourself? I don’t know how it is elsewhere, but in the UK the whole insurance industry is a complete rip off. (Minor scratch on someone else’s car and you (via insurance) will be on the hook for £10k car rental, £5k whiplash and £500 car repairs - making your policy go up £1k a year for a tiny scratch).

If so independent body shop will always be far cheaper and in my experience do a great job for a fraction of the cost. But roof changes are always going to be a trickier job and you need to find one who has done this work before - you don’t want to be the guinea pig, and it needs to be a perfect job or else you will have endless issues. Experience in the general VAG range of brands is likely to be relevant also, Audi roofs etc.

I always find it odd how people come on a forum for advice and then get all funny when people question and give advice. Must be something in the water

I think at least 1 other person has posted the cost of the glass roof being £4k to buy and £4k to fit. I think it was £ rather than $ - so that is £8k. Plus the front.
It would be interesting to hear the outcome and costs when you do get it sorted, so please re-post

This is the fender damage after I was side swiped at very low speeds.

Porsche approved body shop recommended total replacement. The fender also got pushed into the hood slightly knocking it out of alignment so they are replacing that as well.

Not a cheap job, nearly 8k CAD for all the work but thankfully covered by insurance.

Hi All

A tree fell on my taycan whilst away and has dented the front fender & cracked the panoramic roof.

Does anyone have experienxe changing the front fenders? I am trying to figure out whether to replace or take it to the bodyshop to fill and paint?

Also with the roof, I asked my local windscreen shop & they aee reticent due to the tech in the headliner.

Does anyone have suggestions for either?

I think I am going to sell it.
Pictures would be helpful for context….
