I am leery to actually do the certificate deletion, as in my experience Porsche software is extremely fragile, likely written by cheapest programmers Porsche could find.
Aw, c'mon.
Delete that plug & charge certificate like you have been notified to do.
Everything should be fine, and what you learn will help the rest of us. ;)

I'm so tempted to click through on that in the app.
Just like this:

I went around in circles for a while and logged a ticket with Porsche (who in 4 years remain clueless about any Taycan query) and eventually the certificate step cleared. I deleted it and had the error reoccur on the app. Not used a P&C device in months and so didn't have a charging drama but the workaround would have been QR code or PAYG.
So I got a message from Porsche yesterday about the expansion of the charging network to include Gridserve, plugged in last night to my home charger for an overnight boost on my cheap EV tariff and lo and behold it failed to charge, and this message was waiting this morning. Could it be connected?

Seems unlikely and probably coincidental. We all (UK) got the notification in the app.

I didn't charge at home last night so can't corroborate.

Same here. Woke up this morning and car has failed to charge. Little red dot also appeared linked to plug and charge certificate issue. Not sure if they are connected or just a coincidence, but here we go again. Tiresome Porsche, very tiresome.

Quick update. Charging issue appears to be unconnected to Plug & Charge Certificate. I went to the car and disconnected the lead as well as resetting the Zappi EVSE and was able to start charging using DC. I’ll get the car charged to where I need it today and then wait to see if the Profile works ok tomorrow morning.

Our 2020 Taycan Turbo S passed the free charging period in August (extended by Porsche NA to four years). Our car has the 22 kW AC Charger upgrade ($5,000 and two days to install, includes Plug & Charge upgrade) and Plug & Charge has worked flawlessly at Electrify America until our Connect Charging service went from free to paid. Of course, I found out with 8% charge in driving rain! Nothing I or EA did restored Plug and Charge. I used a credit card.

Called Porsche Customer Service yesterday and finally got connected to a sharp technician or engineer that knew a work-around solution. The problem is caused by the Plug & Charge contract changing when you go from free to paid charging and many Electrify America chargers cannot replace the old contract certificate with the new one from Porsche. The work around is:
  1. Reset PCM. Yes you will loose many settings but it will remember your key settings if your My Porsche account is up to date. Make sure you know how to log into your My Porsche account before you reset your PCM or you may be looking for your original PCM code from your sales person.
  2. Drive to an EA charger capable of downloading your new contract certificate - your dealer should know the ones to use in your area. In Portland, Oregon it is in Beaverton at Fred Myer, 15995 SW Walker Road.
  3. When you connect the charger to a PCM with no contract certificate, the charger will download the correct certificate in force.
  4. Electrify America and Porsche are working on a solution for all EA chargers, but none is in sight (yet). My guess is the early chargers are not capable of overwriting an existing certificate and need an empty space, or they may not be able to change anything in your vehicle.

OMG, how incompetent were the designers of the EA Plug-And-Charge not to foresee the need for new certificates. That is basic security design 101 concepts, missing from EA apparently. Given that, I suspect the EA chargers are full of security holes. :(

Are you sure your free charging ended? I’m on the fifth year of the Porsche Connect contract on my MY2020 Taycan (purchased September 2020), and I charged free today at EA, with the usual app notification that charges would apply after the first 30 minutes. I did not retrofit the 22 kW charger to get plug and charge, so I use the My Porsche app to start free EA charging sessions, same as all Taycan owners had to do until Porsche offered plug and charge for MY2021.

August 2023 was the end of three years and Porsche extended it to August 2024. We have paid $319 a year since 2023 for Connect services, so Porsche clearly knows we are past original free periods. However, extending free charging may be the solution to the certificate problem. When our battery charge is low enough I will attempt a charge before resetting the PCM. Will keep you posted.

My plug and charge has completely stopped working although the notification has gone.

Having it checked out next week when having the break recall done

Not sure this helps or hurts, but I have NOT done the update and plugged and charged at EA successfully today. Also worth noting that im the second owner of this car within the 3 years of charging. I have not had any issues charging at home either.

Happy to run the download tonight and see what happens.

I think I noticed in early September (could have started earlier) that Plug & Charge at Ionity was no longer working.

I also noticed the app notification in the Charge settings menu about Uninstall P & C certificate.

Based on posts above, today I uninstalled the certificate.

I was surprised to see in the Charging screen my car instantly started charging at 22kW, in the middle of the day ?

Turns out my timers and profiles had just been wiped, so I quickly had to reinstate the timer which only lets the car charge up ready for 6am each morning.

No idea whether it has in fact fixed P&C, I'll have to wait until I'm next heading to an Ionity charger to validate but heads up if you do this you may wish to note down any timers or profile you have set up beforehand as you may have to recreate them.

HTH...

Edited to add - the notification has not cleared either - and it still offers me the Uninstall option in the app

I have the red dot on the app and have done nothing with it as I simply don’t trust processes like this for which zero explanation is given by Porsche.

With said red dot, I used plug and charge at 2 Ionity stations. Didn’t work at Ionity Stafford but charged fine with the Porsche Charging card. Further along the journey, plug and charge worked fine at Ionity Lancaster,

For interest, some goons had chopped 8 cables at Ionity Lancaster presumably for copper…Ionity had already repaired 6 by the time I got there the day after. Efficient…
