What is less appreciated is the effect this has on insurance companies. A combination of high repair prices and low residual values turns virtually every shunt into a write-off. There are hence plenty of Taycans now with scrap dealers.
Since you are new to this forum, I’m going to cut you some slack here.

For a long time we’ve had people claiming that all Taycans will burst into flames at some point and of course that never happened. You are making a claim that there are many Taycans being scrapped. I’m curious to know how many that is and where you got that information?

Could someone please post a PDF copy of their Porsche AG North America extended warranty, so I can do a full comparison against the UK one.

Thanks

From the Porsche AG UK warranty, below is an exhaustive list of items commonly subject to wear and tear, which, if fail due to wear and tear, will not be covered

And the list of of covered items.

My impression is that the lists are common throughout Europe - but happy to be corrected.

Uk Taycan sales started 2020, but production only really got going in 2021.
3 year uk mfr warranty, means not too many outside this just yet.

I extended my warranty in Aug 2024 and had 0 claims, sold the car in Nov 2024 and got the proportional refund.

Warranty claims in the first 3 years were 7 and would have cost tens of thousands £££s.

Ok, you win. There comes a point when any beta product matures into an alpha product. Going by the silence on this thread, perhaps the Taycan is now there.
It's quiet because of the nature of the question - extended warranty on an older model is a no brainer and doesn't need posting mania to say that loud and clear.

Again, I'm done.

In the US the coverage is different. I used Perplexity to get a readable summary without legal mumbo jumbo.

Here is what is NOT COVERED by this warranty --

Let me add a caveat - I have NOT made any warranty claims at this point, so the first time that happens (if it happens) I'll let you know how Porsche handles things.

My opinion is for Taycan, a warranty is a must given the complexity of the drivetrain and how everything software appears buggy.

That said I don't have extended warranty for either my 991 nor 997 GT3. The 997 and 991 is a much simpler car to diagnose and fix with lots of independent service support. When things happen it's almost never related to a GT3 unique part, but rather a general issue for that generation car. The most endemic issue thus far is the 991's A/C unit leak and blower failure. (Remedy is to accept the leak as endemic, and fill with fluid every 2 years, and to replace to replace the blower motor)
