Hi Gino, in my experience there are two battery conditions that can cause low range (after eliminating controllable variables like tires/wheels, speed, attached accessories, and driving conditions). First, there is battery degradation that is even, and second there is uneven battery degradation where one or more failing cells restrict the capacity of the entire HV battery pack. My range was terrible since new, and it turns out I had one bad cell, which got worse suddenly, requiring a tow to the dealership to replace the entire HV battery pack at over 41,000 miles on the odometer. You can read more details about my experience here:
Bottom line: get an OBDII reader and view the cell map to see if you have a "time bomb" bad cell(s), or if you just have even degradation.
Very good advice! Do you advise a certain OBDII reader which will give me this information? I will order it immediately to begin monitoring my battery system.
I don't worry so much for me but I would hate for my wife to get stuck somewhere by herself with a failed battery pack. It seems like these failures can happen out of the blue and I hate taking chances with my wife's safety. If something were to happen I'm not always close by to make sure she is ok. I'm trusting Porsche but I feel your suggestion to keep tabs on the battery modules with an IBDII reader is just common sense. Thank you so much!

Gino, there are a few threads on this forum where people compare OBDII readers. @featherless is performing the most in-depth comparison that I've seen:
I'm using the vLinker MC+, which works fine, but his review says I could have done better.

Just ordered the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+ for delivery tomorrow. Do I need to download any additional apps to see the graphs you show for the battery cell data?
Thanks again for all your information & advice.

I continue to be fascinated by the speed impact on range.
In summary, this weekend I had trips that extrapolated to 210 miles of range at 61mph avg, and 270 miles at 46 mph avg.

Details in case anyone is interest in the ... details:

For vehicle background, 2022 4CT, second owner, about 37,000 miles, 20" tires, but CC2, so definitely some sort of range hit from that compared to OEM.

This "There" vs "Back Again" combo has an elevation differential: gaining ~1,200' (~366m for those not using Freedom Units) for There, then losing that for Back Again.
That affects the following #s, although I've noticed that factor when keeping track of ICE mpg.
And over actual distances travelled of over 400 miles for There + Back Again, I don't think that factor can be explaining much of the range differential?

Both There and Back Again used up ~85% of the battery, so I'm extrapolated to comparable extents.
The There leg had about 150 more lbs (which Excel claims is about 68 of something called kilograms) than Back Again, but I don't think that matters much.

Weather conditions were almost exactly the same, ranging from high 60s to low 80s (in Freedom Units -- pesky foreigners can do their own translations by now!), AC on may 2/3 of the time.

Back Again had a major diversion to hike with a visiting friend yesterday.
(His flight home had originally been on Saturday, then got rescheduled to today for obvious reasons ... then got cancelled today!)
I charged early on in the trip, at one of only eight NEVI stations (from 2021 Congressional legislation -- these things take time ...) b/c I thought Back Again would be outside my range, and the charging options range from borderline dysfunctional to nonexistent later on in the Back Again route.

Bottomline is that:
There = 210 miles
Back Again = 270 miles
Speed:
There = 61 mph avg, with much of that influenced by mid 70s stretches
Back Again = 46 mph avg (as recorded for the first half, although unfortunately the second half isn't showing in the app, but must be very very similar)

I drive from CT to MA several times per week. It’s about 120 miles round trip. I take an elevation hit to efficiency on the way there and a nice benefit on the way back. I am impressed at the efficiency of my 4S CT.

I am at about 55000 miles and see ~250ish on trips in moderate weather, and 210ish in winter, might be slightly more.

The SoH shows about 90% per Porsche and 92% per ODB both at 10% SoC and 100% SoC.

I am pretty impressed. I bought my car used in 2022 with 26k miles before the big update. I get better mileage still at 55k than I did pre the updated software :).

I am still not totally comfortable in the long term safety of the battery, but from my limited reading my battery should be fairly settled at and degradation should slow… at least based on Tesla Model S long term tests. I realize not same chemistry or battery or software etc..

I would love 300 miles not because my bladder can make it that long but because I could stop charging while still in the peak on road trips, and winter wouldn’t stress me at all, but not convinced it is worth the sticker to upgrade. Also worried about under body damage now.

Curious about the elevation differentials?
Unless you're driving to the top of Wachusett or Greylock, I can't think of much elevation gain here!
