Ugh. I really hate those base Macans. I will be pushing for something better if I have a long wait.
I'm a month in to waiting on replacement battery modules and have a base 2025 Macan. 23 miles on the odometer when I got it, 900+ now. I can't wait to get out of it and back into my Taycan 😭
Early on the SA said "this is going to take a while, I'll give weekly updates instead of daily." Hope it goes faster for you.

The yellow circle "Electrical System Error" showed up for me last week. Along with that error, I started to get charging errors at exactly 80% charge. To me, that 80% charge limit indicates that the ARB6 software update has identified an issue with my battery. I have an appointment scheduled with the dealership this Friday morning to see what they say.

Using the MapEV software (thanks @prj ) I see an error indicating a problem with module 7 "self discharge detected". tCAN-pro software (thanks @ct14garage ) thinks everything is fine. Screenshots are attached.

I'll update this thread as I learn more from the dealership. For now I'm severely limiting my driving because I don't want a complete failure before I get it to the dealership.

I got exactly the same error when I tried to charge above 85%. Car now with Porsche waiting replacement of 2 battery modules, to come from Germany. They are saying it’ll be 2 weeks to fix.

The TSB ā€˜fault inspection necessary’ one advises against clearing the code
IMG_4081.webp
If it's a stored value you can't even erase these faults.
If the s/w is properly fool-proofed, all faults related to cell modules are stored.
Why else would we have this new s/w anyway?
But hĆ©, I'm not a s/w developer...šŸ˜

If the fault code can’t be cleared, the TSB wouldn’t say ā€˜don’t clear it? The advice may be hedging or inaccurate.
But erasing a safety warning about a fire šŸ”„ to see if the fault happens again doesn’t seem like a good idea šŸ¤”

I had a similar thought regarding a potential surge in replacement module demand. What's frustrating as I cross the month mark (not including the 10 days it was previously in the shop for the same error two weeks earlier that the dealer said was fine) is the lack of any sort of estimated availability. Just "it will take a while." I believe the SA when he says he's not getting info from Porsche primarily due to the myriad posts on this forum related to a complete lack of communication from them. Still, considering asking for him to get an official statement from PCNA about the ETA.

Do you know if the inability to charge more than 80% is a result of the recent BMS software update? In other words, prior to the update you might have had the yellow warning, but not had charging limited?

When the software was installed in all the Taycan fleet, and they would have assumed there was going to be a surge for replacement battery modules, did nobody think 'it may be a good idea to have a supply of them ready'?

Radical thinking I know!

Minutes after my post I got a note saying parts were coming in and they'd start work soon. Not an exact ETA, but better than a "no change" update.

That’s at least some progress, even if it took forever just to hear ā€œparts are coming.ā€ You’d think with a software update this big, Porsche would’ve stocked up on modules before lighting the fuse. Hopefully once this first batch gets replaced, they’ll figure out how to shorten the turnaround times.

I almost never get errors but got this yellow circle error when Thurs am. I restarted the car and it went away. It charged to 80% yesterday and it did again today without issue. Car is fine. Weird.

Minor Update: I took the car in yesterday morning at the scheduled appointment time. I explained the situation and they said it will probably take 1-1.5 months before I get the car back. I appreciate them setting the expectation for a long wait.

Also, I asked if they could set me up in anything besides a base Macan and they provided a brand new (14 miles) Cayenne which is way better overall.

I also provided a list of other items to check out (suspension squeaking when backing out of my driveway, possible wheel bearing noise, noise from HVAC) and asked them about 40K mile service since the car is at ~37K miles. They quoted the 40K service at $3600 and said it include brake replacement 🤣 Overall I like this dealership and the experience but it gets tiring when they try to rip you off with unnecessary work and then lie to your face that it’s required by Porsche.

I turned down the quoted work and had Porsche email me the exact list of work that they recommend (no brake replacement of course). I’ll start a new thread (link to that thread) about that so that I don’t pollute this one too much.

As others have said, I hope Porsche is ready for the deluge of Taycans with battery modules that need replacing. I’m glad they provided the software update to catch these issues early.

I kind-of agree. The bit I don't get - the car is still drivable with battery capacity limited to 80%, if I understand well. Why does the dealer want it sitting in his yard while he waits for the new module? Can't you just drive it?

As @chun has pointed out, Porsche provided a software detection 'solution' instead of actually fixing a hardware problem - defective HV batteries supplied by the battery manufacturer and installed by Porsche. The so-called 'solution' results in the owner losing access to his Taycan for weeks so a single battery module can be replaced.

Why would a Taycan owner (and Porsche) expect that the other modules in his Taycan's battery are better?

What happens in a couple months when the next battery module trips the yellow warning/charge limited to 80% and the dealer keeps the car for weeks?

1 battery module repaired, 32 to go.
