I think not having to manually close the cover is greatest benefit. You can also open and close the cover from inside the car so that you never have to touch the (during wintertime often dirty) cover at all.

Making the charging procedure as convenient as possible is something I highly appreciate.

There are however probably more important options you’d want to prioritise if you’re close to hitting your budget.

I have the option and like it. But already had to replace both covers under warranty. If it breaks the procedure to open it manually with a supplied tool is PITA (for me). Lastly, if you accidentally forget the DC small lid open, eg. while tinkering with a fast charge station, the cover will try to close anyway and throw an error on the instrument cluster.

- Just let the vents work. They are there not accidentally.
- Do not let to get fake things on a Porsche, at least not by request.

like racetex? :CWL:
or do you mean something that changes the dynamics/functional for the worse? like a 20" to 21" wheels that would also reduce range? :CWL:

@op Get whatever that will make you content. Just like all other options, it's highly personal. Except for the color Mamba Green; every thing should be made in mamba green, including the DC charge door flap.

I ordered it because:

I prefer the look with the black accent and they are smaller

I have had 2 PHEV and I am always worried someone will brake the door (on purpose or notWhen a charging cable is coming from the front of the car it is more practical when the door is not in the way like the electric one

It looks practical. And lots of posts about dirt and mud on the side of the car and I don’t like cleaning.

And why I may be sorry: the first time I am stuck somewhere with a blocked charge port.

I understand the purpose of the air curtain but I wonder if it will make a big difference in range. And I took the heat pump and 20 inch wheels. Or will it also change driving dynamics (while driving normally)

Funny...

Answering your targeted question: I mean decreasing wheel arch pressure that is rather front axle stabilization than aero. But marginal differences for sure, it is not a GT3 RS.

This is my personal opinion according to the request of OP. Absolutely accept others thinking differently, I also wondered a lot about this option.

It is clear there will be pro/cons, useless way to attack each others view, either with hugely funny meaningful emojis.

Nowhere near enough to actually block it.
Anyway I wash my car from time to time.
However, there is an entire thread on how to block it manually to prevent rocks/debris from damaging the car.

I got the option because I think it is cool. OP should just decide if they like the look/functionality enough to pay for it. If it is coming down to crunch time, budget-wise, then it is certainly an option that can be eliminated.

And I have just updated that thread. ?

Its another divisive option.
Some people like it. Some don't.

My biggest concern is the reports on here of the electric doors jamming. Then being unable to open them and not able to charge the car on either side.
Example
https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/charging-port-stuck-open.5692/

That said the open ones on British winter roads leave the doors really dirty, and potential for stone damage. I have just modded mine for that reason.

Like I say it's a 50/50 option.

I am an engineer so I was more driven by actual logical rock trajectory than hypothetical concern.
It will certainly allow a few more square inches to get dirtier and a small collection of road debris to accumulate.
I am not budget driven but exasperation driven when going through the configurator.
The Taycan is the first Porsche in 30 years I have liked enough to keep going to the end of the configurator without giving up in disgust.
My last car actually cost 30% of the maximum budget I has set myself and was suitable for what I wanted.

I wish I'd gotten the power covers and I will on the next car.

I always feel like I'm bending it when I am pressing to open. I don't like touching it when dirty or putting fingerprints on it when clean.

I stuck with the manual charging port covers because:
- it makes the car look better (subjective),
- it offers two fewer electromechanical components which can fail (objective),
- it leaves the aerodynamic side flow intact resulting in higher efficiency (objective but probably only a modest impact on range).

I went with it because I think that it looks super cool and it brings me a small amount of joy to operate it every time. I love tech and gadgets. I have to admit, it's totally unnecessary. So of course I got it. No regrets.

As for the side vents: As I have the electric port my side vents are blocked. I'm happy to say that my car hasn't blown up [yet], and I don't have to worry that my door will get slightly more dirty and/or damaged as some feedback suggests could be the case with open vents.

If you are struggling to choose I'd suggest going with your gut as to what "looks best" to you. In the end it needs to bring you joy when you see/use it, not anyone else unless there's someone in particular you want to impress. In which case ask them...

Happy choosing! o_O
