Is there any warning sounds for blind spot detection & adaptive cruise control + lane keep assists ?
Because, I drove a Taycan Turbo at the dealership before placing my order for the 4S and there was no warning sounds at all. It was scary to drive, as I had to keep looking to the screen all the time instead of the road to know, if something was working or not.
Can someone confirm, if the car gives proper audible warnings for blind spot detections and adaptive cruise control + lane keep assist etc ?
If not, then may be I have to remove those options from my order portal at dealership as those will be useless without audio warnings.
I almost crashed into a truck today, thinking the car is lane locked automatically, while it was not and it was moving towards the left towards the truck. Scary!
When I looked at the bottom screen, the lane was not green.
So, basically the car automatically moved from GREEN LANE LOCKED to LANES NOT LOCKED GREYED OUT status without any audible warnings.

My RWD does not have audiable warnings for anything [except the frogy sound for lane departure and parking] and I don't remember seeing an option in the settings anywhere for them. My Audi etron does not audio response either. I would agree that would be a nice option. Would also like to see blind spot indicaors in the HUD as well.

why would you be watching the screen rather than looking ahead when driving?

To know. If the lane lock is there or not.

if lane lock is working, then you don’t need to strongly holding the steering.
makes sense ?

If you enable lane change assist, there is an audible waa waa sound if you drift over. Lane keep assist keeps you centered in the lane, as long as it can read the lane markers. You are required to keep control of the vehicle and hands on the wheel, so there is no reason you should need a sound, but it is not exact, so watch the road you may need to assert more control, even if both lines are green. Blind spot, which I think is the lane change assist I discussed, in addition to the sound has the lights on the mirrors telling you if a vehicle is there. Don't rely on the screen, the car will give you feedback via the wheel if you drift or not being centered or the lights on the mirrors if someone is in the next lane. ACC doesn't need a sound, it regulates speed and distance, but the important thing to remember it is not perfect, you should always be ready to take full control.

InnoDrive or ACC with LKA is nothing like Tesla Autopilot. Does not do lane lock like your Tesla. It does keep you with the lane markers (like above said, as long as it can read them), but I find that it can only read the markers like 60% of the time. I fall prey to this with years of driving Tesla, I get lazy when with InnovDrive on, and find myself drifting into lanes or around corners if I'm not paying attention. I have to pay attention when driving Porsche, more relaxing when driving Tesla for road trips.

If you want Tesla experience, you'll have to stick with Tesla.

Or just accept the Porsche software is not as good, and drive the Porsche like it's meant to, OG cars.

As many threads as you have with Porsche not doing what you think it should be, compared to your Tesla. You're really not shopping for a new car, you just want the Porsche looks, but the Tesla electronics. Not gonna happen. I love my Teslas, but I love my Porsche too. Be at peace with each platform's pros and cons.

Yet the mods don’t seem to be making any attempt to cull the trolls. Good way to destroy a forum.

I gotta be careful though, as I got banned from the Rennlist Taycan forum for calling out a mod who was protecting a troll. Then after banning me for calling the guy out, they finally banned the troll. Go figure.

Ha lol. I responded to him on Reddit too where he asked the same thing in the Taycan subreddit. I don't think he's trolling, just expecting a Taycan to work like a Tesla while they're fundamentally different cars. Tesla tries to do self-driving, everyone else does assistance systems.

So many things you don't like about the Taycan.

So why are you buying one?

Surely you will be happier sticking with your Tesla?

I also think you would end up crashing the Taycan, because it needs someone to drive it.

@soamz, honest question, are you sure the Taycan is the car for you? As others have mentioned, it seems you're really drawn to the feature sets that Tesla (or other brands) focuses on, and the only reason I've seen you like the Taycan for is its nicer quality. Otherwise I assume the other part is the looks of the Taycan. If that's the case, and ultimately you're just looking for a more stylish and higher quality Tesla, I don't know if you'll end up actually being happy with a Taycan.

I do sympathize with wanting decent assists, as for most people this is a DD (for me having ACC in stop and go traffic is important too), but I think I can speak for most owners that it's secondary to how the car feels to actually drive. I personally was hooked from my test drive because it reminded me somewhat of a 4-door 911, in terms of steering and seating position, while being more comfortable and practical than actually DDing a 911.

Have you considered something like an EQS or Lucid Air (if it is available in Dubai?). While not as pretty, their focus is a lot closer to Tesla, but with an emphasis on materials and quality. Merc is about to release Level 3 Autonomous driving, which sounds like is important to you
