Do they show speed and red light cameras?

How about rerouting due to traffic?

Do they support dynamic location reporting of police?

if it can do this, I would consider changing. On my next long trip, I may run Waze and Apple simultaneously to get the best of both worlds.

Come on friends, we're 15 posts into this thread, and more posts on two other threads for this topic, and no one has explored whether this update causes Apple Maps in CarPlay to pre-heat the battery on the way to a charging station. Am I the only person who wants to know?!? Why would we use the updated Apple Maps on the way to charge if it doesn't pre-heat the battery?
Came here to ask this and I also wondered if this were the case, which I very much doubt. If I start Carplay nav the Porsche nav exits. Can't run both. But my other experience is that if the Porsche nav is on the way to a DC charger, and starts heating the battery, it will continue heating even after you cancel the guidance. So I guess one possible work-around is to start heading to the DC charger on the built-in nav, get the battery warming up, and then switch over to Apple or Waze??

Does apple map sync with the HUD and map on the dash, or is that the PCM nav only?

I do often run Waze in the background for the user-provided warnings, but I much prefer the display and routing of the Apple Maps. I haven't, yet, had an instance where rerouting was needed but traffic in Arizona is no where near what it is in DC :)

thanks for this update- I would guess it's coming from the car - if it provides this then we are good to go - thank you for following up!
I wouldn't assume it's coming from the car, unless the car knows the route that Apple Maps chose. It is possible that there are more than one possible routes to the destination. Unless of course Apple Maps uses PCM's routing. It is also possible be that PCM just provides some estimated usage parameters, and current, SoC, then Apple calculates on its own. Or they dumbed it down and PCM just provides current SoC and estimated range, from which Apple calculates target SoC since it knows how many miles away the target is. I guess customers will have to use and learn, perhaps compare destination SoC on PCM vs. Apple?

Radar and Laser detector are legal everywhere except VA (Sorry DC fam) and Mississippi . Radar and Laser JAMMING are wildly and incredibly illegal everywhere. You do not want to get caught with a radar jammer, pretty likely you will be going to jail or paying a large fine to the FCC.

Cops will know absolutely instantly if you have either though. Every single car they hit with laser locks on in half a second and yours doesn't? they'll know.
Which is why I don’t even bother with any of it . . .

Yes, honestly, Waze has saved me hours in avoiding delays up and down the east coast. I bet it has saved me at least 30 minutes on each trip that is longer than 3 hours.

yes to all of this.
How is it sourced? I wonder how it compares on the east coast. If it is crowdsourced, you really have to use the most popular one even if you would prefer a different one

I used Waze one during a hurricane evacuation... NEVER again. Sure... it was a one-off experience in an unusual situation but I'm not gonna use it. Kinda like getting food poisoning the first time you try a restaurant.

But, yeah... what about the battery pre-conditioning?

Radar jamming, absolutely illegal nationwide (FCC). Laser jamming on the other hand, perfectly legal in most places around the USA, as are radar detectors. Google it for latest info.

As for cops knowing instantly, and half second lock on every car in every situation - also not true.

Check out rdforum.org for starters, if you want to inform yourself on the topic.

It is possible but not in the Taycan. Apple Maps instructions. showed on the HUD of my X5 in CarPlay. Shame that Porsche didn’t enable this. Maybe they will now with this new feature. Only worked with Apple Maps in CarPlay both with Waze etc.

Presumably this will ultimately extend to Android in time just like native integration in the PCM.

I suspect either Apple or Google Maps will be native in PCM in time too - already happening with some brands.

For me, I much prefer native integration and my only gripe is the shortfall in EV locations offered when typically many more (and often better) are available. In time this may improve but it's clear the data exists but for some (commercial?) reason it lags behind.

I don't need to know all the other information getting folk excited over this enhancement.

Me too.
I haven't needed it much but the most usefully located fast charger on the only route I have so far taken long enough to need to stop en route is not a charger in the PCM so navigating to it has to be to the adjacent cafe and the battery isn't preheated so nowhere near the potential of 150kW.
