Fun, my VIN is in the range. Thanks for sharing this. Dealing with a CEL on my Cayenne right now too (Cylinder 3 Misfire), so not super thrilled.

Based on that document, it seems to indicate that there was ‘no’ sealant used on batteries prior to 2023? If they’re concerned about some ineffective sealant, should we be concerned about no sealant?
“The vehicle populations prior to the recalled vehicle production period did not have the Teroson sealant and thus are not subject to the failure mode of the recall population.” (Ie the new feature had a bug.)

(repeat of my post in the other thread)

I did not infer from the phrasing of the report that no sealant was used prior to the start date, just that "Teroson sealant" was incorporated after.

Hi everyone,
Not a very good topic for my first post, but I'm signing a lease for a 2023 Taycan Sport Turismo GTS in a few days and I've been reading about other drivers' problems...

Based on this article (in german, sorry): https://efahrer.chip.de/news/audi-u...iwilliger-rueckruf-bei-teuren-e-autos_1014995 the recall is happening only in the US for the moment but there are 2379 Taycans affected in Germany and the owners will be timely notified.

Also: https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/neuheiten/rueckrufe-fuer-audi-e-tron-gt-und-porsche-taycan/
In Germany, Audi could not communicate any numbers. Porsche, on the other hand, named 2,379 Taycan vehicles in Germany and 9,986 models in Europe. The vehicles come from the production period 22. September 2022 to 3. August 2023, at Audi it is the period 23. September 2022 to 28. August 2023.

Based on the VINs from the US recall and the assumption that there are no gaps in VINs there are quite a few.

By model

Tacan RWD Begin : WP0AA2Y16PSA10625 End : WP0AA2Y19PSA16306 5682 VINs
Taycan 4S Begin : WP0AB2Y10PSA35114 End : WP0AB2Y14PSA36606 1493 VINs
Taycan GTS Begin : WP0AD2Y12PSA47095 End : WP0AD2Y16PSA48461 1367 VINs
Taycan Turbo Begin : WP0AC2Y13PSA52082 End : WP0AC2Y11PSA52419 338 VINs
Taycan Turbo S Begin : WP0AC2Y1XPSA52029 End : WP0AC2Y15PSA52424 396 VINs

Taycan 4 Cross Turismo Begin : WP0BA2Y15PSA60064 End : WP0BA2Y17PSA60650 587 VINs
Taycan 4S Cross Turismo Begin : WP0BB2Y19PSA65037 End : WP0BB2Y16PSA65545 509 VINs
Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo Begin : WP0BC2Y1XPSA68025 End : WP0BC2Y16PSA68152 128 VINs
Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo Begin : WP0BC2Y16PSA68006 End : WP0BC2Y18PSA68153 148 VINs

Taycan GTS Sport Turismo Begin : WP0CD2Y16PSA90038 End : WP0CD2Y17PSA90288 251 VINs

That works out to a total of 10,899 not including the Sport Turismo models not available in the US.

From my post on another thread --

Late comer to this discussion - My reading of the Electrek article and the NHTSA website is different. It is my understanding that there has always been a "battery sealant" to prevent moisture from entering the HV battery. Check this article out that reads in part --

"Porsche has recalled all variants of the 2023 Taycan over potentially insufficient battery sealant. The automaker introduced a new battery sealant material last September for the beginning of 2023 model-year production and discovered that the sealant may not be sufficient."
"In its recall notice, submitted to NHTSA on September 1, Porsche says it began receiving reports of insufficient insulation values in March 2023, and a month later, determined that one U.S.-market car was affected. Two further U.S. Taycans were found to have insufficient sealant after a dashboard warning message prompted owners to bring cars to dealers for examination."

So Porsche moved to a Teroson sealant (typical supplier management - maybe cheaper?). The original Teroson formulation turned out to be insufficient, so Teroson provided an upgraded formulation . It is simply the cars produced from March - August that are effected, not cars produced earlier using the original sealant, and that would include cars destined for the US market.

That's probably going to give US only data. I tried removing the c=usa and changing it to c=uk with no luck. You could compare your VIN with the VINs listed above. If it's in the range for your model, you have the bad sealant.
Recall Schedule :
Description of Recall Schedule : Owner's will be notified of the Recall within 60 days of the filing of this report. If no remedy is available at that time, an interim notification will be sent, followed by a final remedy notification when the remedy becomes available.

Planned Dealer Notification Date : SEP 15, 2023 - SEP 15, 2023
Planned Owner Notification Date : OCT 31, 2023 - OCT 31, 202

So one could say the recall is not "open" (yet). I'd sit tight - not sure what one could do prior to Porsche notifying them.
