In the Video you can see that the Facelift is loading from 44% (28,095 kwh) to 51% (36.111 kwh). When you calculate the charging, for 7% charging it needs 8 kwh which means 100% is 115 kwH. When loading losses are included, estimation for usable should be a little bit higher than 100 kWh

But it was also said that in the kWh shown on the display you also have to factor in the energy needed for thermal management of the battery when charging at such high power levels!

About time they up their game!

Porsche Taycan Taycan Facelift spotted estimated >100kwh usable battery and 300 kw charging 1695459396606

The battery is still on the small side when compared with the Chinese like the Zeekr 001, which might only be half the price...

Sorry written late: In this example it should load 115 kwh "with losses". So estimation without losses should be a bit bigger than 100 kwh.

Zeekr big battery (140kwh) only limited to 1000 cars what i can find on the web. Also i do not know how good rust protection is at chines cars.

The zeekr 001 looks very promising. Both the design and the technology. Geely is quickly getting better and better.

I am happy with the range that is already better than my S2000. I just wish that they can make the charge app easier to use. Up until now, i still cannot set a limit to charging. I wonder if they are actually closing off the front to wheel air duct on the refresh.

That's coming from the same group that also has Polestar and Volvo.
I'm not a huge fan of either of those car line-ups, but I'm pretty sure Volvo knows how to make cars that don't rust.

Love how folks are dismissing the Chinese cars so quickly. Arrogance comes before the fall.
These companies are the only ones keeping up with Tesla in terms of innovation, and are bringing a lot of different configurations to the market for those of us that don't like the Tesla standard.

We should take china serously but build quality is far away from estaplished car brands. See this video about BYD Atto 3. Strange paintings and dents on structual car body parts. Also you find threads in the internet about rusting BYDs.

I neither have a problem with range nor charging speed.
Actually, I limit charging speed to protect the battery and there's no difference for me.

Also, I don't want to carry a bigger battery and hence heavier car.

I think rounding errors of these 2 points of time are way too high for precise estimate, it could be 101 or 129 kWH as well.
losses of AC and fans are not more than 3.6kW in current Taycan generation, but that neglets the thermal capactiy of the pure battery mass.
But I agree: +15% compared to our 86,7kWh net battery should be a good guess (~100kWh).

I was going to go this forum this morning and write one of my first stories or posts but seeing this thread was just started on Friday I didn't want to step on it.

I just came across the face lifted Taycan yesterday near my house in Southern CA. It was the usual standard black with the covered or masked front corners. The Taycan and it's two chase vehicles, one was a Macan and the other a 911, pulled up next to me at an EVGO station. There were about 6 or 7 German engineers in total between the 3 cars. Things I noted that were different were the shape of the two front qtr panels where instead of the smooth rounded arch the current models have this one had the more angular edges. Interestingly enough the test Engineers weren't even aware of that change until I pointed it out. I'm not fan of the new shape and interestingly they weren't either :). It also looked like the rear light bar area was a little different but I could be wrong on that. It was all blacked out so tough to say. The vehicle had Georgia plates. I asked where they've been and he said everywhere in the U.S. It appears they're testing this same car all over the country in different climates, conditions etc.

I asked them, "So, what exactly am I looking at"? They were of course being a bit coy about exactly what the vehicle was ( a new model, a refresh etc ) and said they can get in trouble if they say too much. The same with pictures. I asked if I could take some but same answer. I obviously could have because they're in a public place but I chose to respect their wishes. These guys were super friendly and chatty about the Taycans, mine included, so I really had no interest in giving them grief with their management about more spy photos. We've all seen the car anyway so it's not exactly ground breaking news.

During my conversation I asked again when I might see something like this on the road. One Engineer replied with, "Well, when did the the first model come out?" I said 2020. He said, "Right so these things usually take about 5 to 6 years." Said with a bit of a wink. Soooooooo...... take that from what you may but it appears to be on track for a 2025 or 2026 release.

Yes and Lotus are also Chinese owned now and the cars they are launching look pretty good to me. Easy to dismiss the Chinese but even a lot of VW Group components/products originate in China...
