Interesting and comprehensive observations.....yes, the window freezing has been a challenge, but I can usually give the window a tap and get things going...It happens with the other Porsches with window drops. We have not had enough heavy wet snow to have the wheel packing that you describe. Have you tried Nokian tires? Their silica compounding should help with braking/turning on icy roads.

I have had significant wheel packing and also other crevices like the wheel wells and wiper area. Unlike an ICE vehicle, it doesn’t get hot to melt all that. Having said that, it’s not a huge problem. Only when wet snow gets hit by a cold snap.
Re tires, I have used Nokian in my other vehicle and they are great. However a narrower wheel is preferable for winter tires if using in actual snow.

Thanks for the information...currently I'm on Pirellis EV rated snows, and they have worked well here.
We don't get the huge snows we used to get, so Nokia's are really unnecessary. I really appreciate how quiet the Pirellis are..the Michelin 4S's got really loud as the tread wore down. Taycans are so quiet, especially with the sound limiting glass, that I really want the quietest summer performance tires that I can find, so the Burmester system can shine.

The window drop has been problem since it's invention.. more or less. It's as bad now as it was in 628 BMW 1982.
The Nokian winter's are good on ice and very good on hard snow. With Taycan's traction control it really shoots out of snowy corners.. but in the next corner where you have 5-10 cm of loose powder - the wide one is not the best. There's a reason why the rally tyres are not so wide.

Well that is real fun on ice tracks. Have been doing that with Subaru’s some time ago! So much fun!

today's experience: I confirm that RWD with Michelin PS4 are not great with only 0.0001 mm of snow ? I had more than a little suspicion, I am now 100% sure!

What happened? I’m on Long Island, expecting up to 3” of snow during my commute. Temps are very low so snow will stick to roads. I’m still on stock all seasons.

You'll be fine.
The PS4, by contrast, despite the "4" is at best a three-season tires, since its rubber compound becomes so hard below about 40F that it is dangerously slick on any road surface.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I guess I’ll find out tomorrow!

My 2020 4S, while in Sport Plus on snowy roads, got a "Turtle" icon on my display today, and the car would only crawl, then stopped dead. I turned it off, cleaned the sensors, returned to Normal Mode. When I turned the car back on, things returned to normal....has anyone had this problem?

My hypothesis is that I was trying to draw too much current from a cold high voltage battery.
On Sport Plus, the large current draw from the front and rear motors would put a lot of demand on the battery and thus trigger a fault.
Just a guess.

I don't use a car every day and recently when I drove off my battery was 1C, the lowest I've seen. I had previously noticed a reduction in performance with a cold battery, not unexpected, but never had the tortoise symbol. I wouldn't try to use full performance from a cold battery unless I damaged it - but in modern cars there seems to be software protection from abuse.

Yesterday when I knew what time I would go out I gave it the full hour pre-heat and was surprised to see the battery at 16C when I left, usually the preheat only adds around 5C above starting temperature and since it takes a lot of energy to heat 350kg of cells I was surprised to see so much more.

absolutely not safe.

went back home and took the Countryman AWD + winter tires : night and day ....
